Right. Nobody answered the question, just reframed it in a way they like better. Okay. |
I mean, that also answers the question, in its own way. |
What was the question? |
.. Okay indeed. We choose to do things in our own self-interest all the time. Why don't I just donate 100% of my salary instead of buying myself a pair of boots. Super selfish. Framing the question as "is it selfish/unselfish?" doesn't mean it should the answer should used as a basis for decision making. It's an odd way to frame it and not particularly useful, so others tried to reframe it in a way that was useful for actual human decision making. |
Because you’re trying to make it a moral issue when it’s not. |
It was an obnoxious, pointed question. |
Must’ve been. Otherwise might look hypocritical. |
I'm not against masks--I still wear mine at work. However, I watched this clip and I do not agree with the comparison of masks to seatbelts. How can we allow our children to become so scared of this virus? A kid who is terrified of killing a friend or family member needs to be reassured by their parents, not encouraged!!! Anxiety is a health issue! It's an impact on our kids and we are turning away from the crisis to focus slowly on covid. Also, if you're going on tv to emphasize the importance of masking and ventilation, don't do the interview indoors. Big Yikes. |
I had the same thought as well as how did these adult women become so scared? I have to wonder if they will look back in a year or so and feel silly for talking about masks with such reverence. |
Yep. Same thought here. Our family is already highly prone to bouts of health related anxiety, so I'm hyperaware of how we talk about Covid / masking with the kids. |
They did have an internationally known ventilation expert on the panel... |
DD reported only about 5 kids had on masks in her grade- Discovery. |
I watched kids stream out of Cardinal Elementary today and I'd say about 25% were maskless. Seemed like a higher number of maskless among younger kids (e.g. 1st graders seemed to be about half and half) |
