It seems to me few are advocating for doing that now, but rather are looking at a few months from now when all the ES students have had a chance to be fully vaccinated.

Snort. You need a reality check. If we can't get 90% of adults to vaccinate, how on earth do you think we'll be able to get 90% of children to vaccinate in a "few months"?

PP here. Why 90%? I didn’t say we’ll get 90% vaccinated in a few months. I don’t expect that. At that point though why not go mask optional for those who are fully vaccinated?

Another louder snort. Really? Now you want teachers to have to know which kids are vaccinated and which aren't, and then you want them to monitor who is and isn't wearing a mask? That's the dumbest thing I ever heard. Teachers need to teach, not monitoring your idiotic kid for whether or not he should or should not be wearing a mask.

HS teacher here. It would not be hard to have a list (updated as needed) of students' vaccination status. Give us a bit more credit.

MS teacher here. We have 147 kids on our team. I do not want to track 147 kids all day for masks. That is a pita and, frankly, it is not what I am supposed to be doing. I am supposed to be teaching, not making my list and checking it twice or thrice or a million times a day to see if Jennyboo or Larry should be wearing masks or not.

Really? Are you able to remember the names of your 147 students? Then I believe you could also remember if they need to mask or not. Remember that a high majority of 12+ kids are vaccinated, so you really only need to remember the 20 or 30 students who are not. Not too taxing. (I'm the HS teacher.)

Troll post. As a HS teacher I assure you it’s delusional and unethical to monitor masking. It’s not on the job description and even if it were I’d still not do it.

No one has learned anything from the singling out and persecution of Jews in nazi germany? 1984 isn’t just a novel. It’s our day to day.

+12

Are you equating vaccination status with…being Jewish during the Holocaust?

Reading comprehension isn’t your forté. It’s ok sweetheart. Non-vaccinated (pure blood) is the new Jews.

So that’s a yes.

You are comparing anti-vaxxers with Jewish people. Disgusting.

I agree. It’s disgusting how people who don’t want to succumb to an experiment are treated. If you’re so convinced your life is safe with that non-disclosed ingredient product why are you forcing others?

I’m not forcing anyone.

It’s DISGUSTING to compare yourself to the victims of genocide. WTF?

You did what you were supposed to do? Lol, I don't believe that for a second but even if you did, guess who doesn't care? The virus.

This isn't about you did x, now you're owed y. Sorry.

NP here. It’s about I did “X” (get vaccinated) and now my risk of dying of COVID is minuscule. And the majority of Americans age 5+ also have the option to get vaccinated and protect themselves. We also have new successful treatments. So now “Y” precaution (masking) that we did before these things existed no longer is our best measure of protection. The risk vs. benefit analysis has changed. Good ventilation, vaccinations, and early treatments are game changers. But some of y’all are still operating as if it’s spring 2020 while the rest of us think you are unable to engage in logical reasoning or are clinically anxious (or both).

LOL. You clearly haven't been any schools recently. Good ventilation? Tell me, TELL ME, which school has good ventilation. Your anti-mask anxiety has you ratcheted so high off of the ground that you don't even know where your feet are. Get help for your mental illness. Then come back and we can have a calm discussion about this. While wearing masks.

You are sitting at home typing your screeds with caps wearing a mask? Figured as much. You are nuts.

If this were all true, that would be one thing. But unfortunately, it's not. The vaccine doesn't protect everyone equally. Some people can't get it or don't get enough protection from it.

Also if you think schools have good ventilation, you're delusional. And there isn't enough access to to early effective treatment. I'm hopeful after reading about a new treatment that is in trials but it won't be out for a while.

So, patience. Keep your mask on. We're not there yet.
