It seems to me few are advocating for doing that now, but rather are looking at a few months from now when all the ES students have had a chance to be fully vaccinated.

Snort. You need a reality check. If we can't get 90% of adults to vaccinate, how on earth do you think we'll be able to get 90% of children to vaccinate in a "few months"?

PP here. Why 90%? I didn’t say we’ll get 90% vaccinated in a few months. I don’t expect that. At that point though why not go mask optional for those who are fully vaccinated?

Another louder snort. Really? Now you want teachers to have to know which kids are vaccinated and which aren't, and then you want them to monitor who is and isn't wearing a mask? That's the dumbest thing I ever heard. Teachers need to teach, not monitoring your idiotic kid for whether or not he should or should not be wearing a mask.

HS teacher here. It would not be hard to have a list (updated as needed) of students' vaccination status. Give us a bit more credit.

MS teacher here. We have 147 kids on our team. I do not want to track 147 kids all day for masks. That is a pita and, frankly, it is not what I am supposed to be doing. I am supposed to be teaching, not making my list and checking it twice or thrice or a million times a day to see if Jennyboo or Larry should be wearing masks or not.

Really? Are you able to remember the names of your 147 students? Then I believe you could also remember if they need to mask or not. Remember that a high majority of 12+ kids are vaccinated, so you really only need to remember the 20 or 30 students who are not. Not too taxing. (I'm the HS teacher.)

No. We did what we were supposed to do. We stayed home all year . Between the 3 of us we’ve had 8 covid shots. We are vaccinated and should not have to mask. You don’t want your kid vaccinated then your kid wears the mask. I’m so over this bs.

My kid informed me yesterday that he didn’t eat his lunch yesterday because they were squished together and he wasn’t able to move. They were outside, but literally touching each other while eating. When I am picking up from aftercare I see masks in various states ranging from properly worn to fully sagged. We can argue about masks on here forever, but they mostly exist to make parents feel better, not to actually do anything.

CDC showed improved ventilation was slightly better than masking at reducing Covid in schools in Georgia, probably because ventilation isn't impacted by how well kids are complying.

No, you aren't. If you were a real teacher then you would know that this is a virtually impossible task to ask of any teacher. DP.

You're kidding, right? I teach high school math in FCPS. "A virtually impossible task"? My goodness. I'm glad that we have much more capable teachers in our high school than you seem to have in yours.

You did what you were supposed to do? Lol, I don't believe that for a second but even if you did, guess who doesn't care? The virus.

This isn't about you did x, now you're owed y. Sorry.

I agree. It’s disgusting how people who don’t want to succumb to an experiment are treated. If you’re so convinced your life is safe with that non-disclosed ingredient product why are you forcing others?
