Applies to many departments.

Nope, we don't. Teachers have been saying this forever- less central office staff, more teachers and staff in the schools!!

I’m a teacher, too. There are too many of these people in cubicles now, not working with kids. (Which would be awful, IMHO.) Get them into classrooms!

It does! And I’m not seeing the positive impact on students. Quite the opposite. I often feel like they’re taking resources away from students.

Different subject area- but the team for my content area at Syphax includes a director, a supervisor, two specialists, three coordinators, and three admin assistants. I can honestly say that none of them really do jacks—t for the teachers. Maybe one is pretty good, and works. It’s another layer of useless management. My school-based administration is more important. We see each other every day. They see and work with the kids, too.

This is true (Arlington admin here)

Why?

Does APS have some sort of auditor? Not so much to look at the budget, but to review processes and allocations of resources.

If they do she’s passed out in the alley.

I love gossip and am really wanting to hear what happened to the DEI guy. Anonymous posting board are the best way to find out such information as are also the town drunks at dive bars.

I have no gossip, but this person was chosen before Duran took over. My guess is that he was not who Duran wanted in the post, so he was replaced. Not for anything nefarious or incompetence, but just not the hand-picked team that Duran wants to overhaul the system. Seems like previous guy, from statements I heard him make, was maybe not on the same page.

Now this seems like a legit possibility. Can you cite some of the statements that seemed to put him out of sync with Duran? These distinctions are probably a bit too subtle for outsiders to spot on their own.
