teacher's t-shirt makes me deeply uncomfortable...

I'd be shocked if any and all slogan shirts were not against policy unless it is the school's own logo.

DCPS does not enforce any dress code policy. Not do most principals. If you don’t like it move or go private.

This is why teachers dislike parents. Y’all are too damn intrusive.

She didn’t. She wore a shirt with a name on it that OP had to google to be offended about.

+1 Op was not offended by the shirt, she has to google to be offended. It like OP was looking for a reason to be offended.

OP - be classy. If it bothers you, gift the teacher a $500 gift card to Nordstrom. Hopefully they will buy some clothes with it

Forget Israel. This person goes on RT. He’s helping Putin attack America.

Done. Tell the teacher their shirt is inappropriate and tell the principal the same.

Totally agree. I’m surprised this is even a question for some people.

I had a parent who wore a “I hate you” shirt everyday at pickup. At my old school a parent wore a “F*ck Y*u” shirt on a field trip. But yes my Love shirt is sending the wrong message. We surely don’t want more Love in this world.

Forgot to mention. There were zero asterisks on the shirt and this was 3rd grade. You know where kids can read

And that’s not okay either.

Wearing logos is unprofessional. Our school allows school spirit wear on Fridays and occasionally sports team logos on spirit days. Otherwise, no logos. We are expected to dress professionally.
Target and even Walmart have cheap non logo clothing if its a budget issue.

I hope you guys are equally offended by a Fox News shirt. Exponentially more damage.

Anonymous wrote:OP, I’m Jewish and have a hard time understanding your upset here. Teachers have First Amendment rights, although I would hesitate to call this T-shirt an espousal of any viewpoint at all. This is so tepid an expression of support for a Palestinian viewpoint by the teacher that, frankly, you remind me of anti critical race theory activists who think that any mention of African Americans is anti-white. Please stop.

So if a teacher wears Lila Rose podcast merchandise, and views being pro-life as a human rights issue, you’re good right? Different viewpoint, First Amendment, etc?

I don’t want the religious right using the classroom as an outlet for their activism nor anyone else.

Simple rule, no words on shirts for anyone in school. Perhaps make an exception for school specific uniforms / gym clothes. Problem solved.

OP here - I want to be clear that I'm not trying to "cancel" anyone. I Googled the teacher before school began and it seems that they are outspoken about social justice in general. Great - no problem. Richard Medhurst has a vast Internet presence, so I doubt the teacher is getting their news from RT. I'd just like to know if they happened upon one or two Medhurst pocasts/shows/articles that spoke to their particular values and bought the t-shirt, or if they actually subscribe to his his whole suite of beliefs. Because Medhurst is a propagandist - and also, apparently, an accused abuser of women and groomer of underage girls.

Yep. Fox and the Murdoch family are poisoning American minds.

OP you seem really obsessed with this. Now you’re just grasping at straws with the sexual harassment.

What’s going on with your son’s teacher? You seem desperate to find SOMETHING to be mad about.
