It wasn't closed to the public. You had to sign up before the start of the meeting to speak. There were so many people signed up that it was estimated to take 6 hours. I think it's terrible that some of the Equity Loudoun speakers didn't feel comfortable enough to come in person due to what had transpired in the past. Also, nothing that was discussed tonight had to do with the CRT issue at all, so I feel that those protestors should have been made to set up at a perimeter farther back. It just distracts from the important issue of trans rights, which was the main point tonight.

Did you see the teacher who took her allotted time to publicly resign because she felt she had been forced to push a “politicized agenda” on students? They are going to find a way to keep it in the spotlight regardless of what’s actually on the docket.

I'm glad she resigned. I don't want any religious nutso teaching my kid. If I did, I'd send them to a private religious school.

Your religion has no place in your job. I don't care if you're a teacher, grocery store worker, doctor, garbageman, etc. - it doesn't belong.

My son wouldn't care because we have raised him to be a confident young man who respects other's choices.

He's also learned from a young age, from having two moms, that the best reaction to someone looking for a rise out of you by saying mean things is to ignore them and give a slight smirk. Now that he's an older teen, his favorite thing to do when someone says something racist/homophobic is to simply say "well, that's interesting" in a very sincere manner. I got to see him use that one a few months ago, and I must say, it really did drive the guy bananas that that was all my son would say and wouldn't verbally spar with him.

Good. Maybe "parents and community members" will learn to behave like adults and not like screaming teenagers from reality TV and then, and only then, the policy can be reevaluated.

Also remember, the people complaining about trans kids and non-existent CRT indoctrination are in the woeful minority in Loudoun County. They were loud, belligerent and criminal in their behavior. But they are fringe.

There was worse going on at the meeting that the sheriff's office didn't do anything about. Some guy hit a woman wearing a pride shirt. Also threats were made to people there supporting transgendered students. It was worse than what was reported.

They are so vile.
