Can I send my in-laws home?

Is FIL working too? I don’t get why he is let off the hook because he is “generally unhelpful.” At the very least, he can plop them in front of a TV with toys and grab takeout for meals. Childcare should be covered and manageable among four adults (even if all or most of them are working).

How old are your kids, OP? No one can offer good advice without this info.

Same. The last time they visited, we went out to dinner with an extended family member who lives here. We left the kids at home so it was me, DH, FIL, MIL, and young family member (their family, not mine). When the bill came they just looked at DH, who eventually paid. In laws are retired and have plenty of money.

OP what happened? Did the MIL just keep working and FIL laying around?
