I know someone who had horrible hair loss after her second treatment. She had to cut her hair into a boy cut and it is still patchy. She wears a wig sometimes, it is that bad. Hopefully the damage is not permanant

Because of this, I will NEVER risk it.

I like my straight hair to be shaped into a soft style with heated curlers. If that won't work on keratin'ed hair, that would be good to know.

Thanks!

Yes, it will.

Rebonding is about 100$ more expensive but well worth the $$ since you can wash & go and lasts for about 8-10 months (depending on how curly your hair is). Salon Rafik (G'town) has a lady (Mora Miranda) who does this very well. I have been going to her for the past 5+ yrs and great results everytime!

My hairdresser advised against Japanese straightening because for many women it's just too severe--absolutely stick straight and flat, flat, flat.

Hey All -- I just had my hair done with Keratin. Is it ok for me to use Umberto Dry Shampoo on it?

Thanks!

No, they just sent warning letters.

Ideally, I would like to have completely straight hair without needing to blow dry at all - or at least no more than 10 minutes. Right now, my hair look great when I blow it straight but it takes me 45 minutes, so I never ever do it!

I got mine done about a week ago, feels straight but I lost alot of body and volume. Hate my bangs and have to curl it with a curling iron to get any body. I also don't like the cut so that may be part of the problem. I would not recommend it unless you have very curly hair and dont like it.

Brazilian Keratin gives you a good dose of Formaldehyde which is a known carcinogen and toxic. Even if the formula doesn't have formaldehyde it has the precursor chemicals which when heated form formaldehyde which you breath when they blow dry or flat iron you hair. Is pretty hair worth the exposure?

I have wavy hair and do the "express" treatment. You can't wash for 24hrs. I is great for people like us who don't want flat limp hair.

Yes.

I also eat conventional strawberries and drink tap water.

Good for you, PP. We all make choices. I am with the PP who is anti-straightening. And believe me, I need this treatment! Well, my hair needs it!

I just don't know what the research will show in the long-term and I don't want to be one of the guinea pigs...
