Can anyone recommend a salon and the cost for this treatment?
I just had a Keratin treatment done at Salon L'eau in Georgetown. It was great and I only have to wait 24 hours before I can wash. Ask for Sonnia- she is the best!
Cost was $400. Worth every penny is these hot humid DC summer months!
Had mine done Monday night- the first day no washing it was too straight.. it's still straight- but I have no frizz and it would normally take me a long time to straighten my hair- I can now leave the house with wet hair it will dry by itseld- straightish but not bezerk poof! love it- worth it!
I was just thinking of doing this. I have very fine hair thought that is only slightly frizzy. Am worried that it will look super flat. Does anyone know if it would look good? I feel like most of the people I know who have done it either have very curly hair or a lot of hair.
curious how this grows out. i have very curly hair that i usually straighten...sounds like this might be a good idea but does it start looking odd after a month?
I've had mine since mid March. I have curly/wavy hair with fairly flat roots. I can tell the new growth by the frizz, other than that it still looks good three months later.
I had mine done for the second time last week. I have very, very curly hair and this time it came out even straighter than the last. When she was done blowing my hair out I couldn't believe it, my co-workers couldn't believe it. I washed it last night for the first time since and I have completely lost my curl (and I don't mind since I hated my hair). Its now has a very loose wave to it and I can only imagine it will be alot easier for me to blow out.

OP, I use baby powder @ the roots to soak up the oil the same way you would to extend a great blow out.
Some unsolicited advice from a beauty neophyte/nerd: Ask your stylist about the type of treatment and whether or not it can safely go on the scalp. Mine (Coppola) should be applied to the hair only to protect the hair follicles. Our location was VERY well ventilated - wide open windows and fans protecting me and my stylist and that the heat setting of the flat iron is appropriate for your hair. My hair stylist takes great precaution using this "necessary evil." Good luck. You will love the results. Each person has different results, btw. |
Lorraine Aprile Salon in Old town charges $300 and they give you the shampoo and conditioner free with your first treatment. I had mine down and I love it getting ready to book my second treatment. If you go please tell them that Charlie sent you.
I have heard tons of horror stories regarding hair loss with this treatment. Anyone thoughts?
pp here. I know many people who have had it and no hair loss, I am not sure what you are reading. I had the coppola keratin treatments and Lorraine Aprile's salon.

Can anyone please say if your hair WILL CURL using a round brush, curlers, velcro rollers, etc after a keratin treatment? I never saw an answer to that question. I like my straight hair to be shaped into a soft style with heated curlers. If that won't work on keratin'ed hair, that would be good to know.
Thanks! |
omg this is the second day im going without washing and its HORRIBLE . im the type of person that washses their hair EVERY DAY ! I truly hope its worh it /
I have had straight hair for 10 yrs now. Research about Japanese Rebonding technique for straight hair (Liciso). It is much better than the Brazillian Keratin / Blowout treatments. Rebonding is about 100$ more expensive but well worth the $$ since you can wash & go and lasts for about 8-10 months (depending on how curly your hair is). Salon Rafik (G'town) has a lady (Mora Miranda) who does this very well. I have been going to her for the past 5+ yrs and great results everytime!
