So you took a video of someone without their permission?

But, this is reason number 983,702,704,883 why my kids are in private schools.

When stepson was in private school, his teachers were the biggest binge drinkers and weed smokers.

I know many pot head teachers at the best private school in town. I just happen to know this group of people that happen to be teacher there. It's not like I know many teachers in general but I imagine there are several in any given public school too.

Yes. It’s a big subset of adults from all sorts of professions.

I absolutely do not smoke weed and generally avoid pot smokers because I just don’t like how it changes the personality and behavior of people I know and otherwise like. I found out as a teen that I’m safest with people who are not super-laid back and chilled out. I broke up with a guy because of how he reacted when we were in a foreign country that had some political turmoil and he took Valium the whole time. I understand his anxiety, but I’m a small women and so was looking out for this 6’3” strapping guy who was just incapable of taking basic precautions to keep even himself safe. We got off the plane at Dulles and I put him in a taxi and wrote a Dear John letter.

That said, I can’t hold teachers to a different standard that lawyers, nurses, chefs, and so many other professions. Show up at work sober and not hung over, that’s all I ask. I’ve had private sector bosses and coworkers do a lot less.

This has to be a troll. Nobody in their right mind would think this is appropriate especially video taping her.

Unless she was smoking the joint and drinking IN CLASS while teaching this is absolutely none of your business.

I'd be alarmed too if I were OP, but to be honest I probably wouldn't realize the teacher was smoking weed. I also have zero idea what the laws around smoking weed are, so I don't know what is or is not legal. I grew up with the "just say no" campaign and haven't bothered to figure out why weed is now legal in some places. Like, it doesn't impact my life and choices so it really doesn't matter. I do see a need for reforming the incarceration rate for possession and the disproportionate impact that had on minority communities, I'm just saying I don't see why using weed now is a reasonable thing to do (aside from medical reasons). So, if OP is like me in this respect I understand being concerned when seeing a teacher smoking weed.

+ 1 to all these comments.

OP, as a teacher, it is parents like you who fuel my anxiety and stress levels. Unfortunately I don't live in an area where weed is legal, but if I did, I would be using it most nights, and almost certainly after the busybody overly critical Karen emails people like you love to send. I absolutely believe you did take video and you see nothing wrong with that, right?

I can't wait for weed to be legalised where I live. I will need it to stay in this profession with people like the OP running amok.

Yes, OP, you are karening. Hard. And so are the people who think private school teachers don’t smoke weed. Maybe not at private military academies, but that’s the least of your problems if you’re at that point with your teenager.

I'm a teacher and I get high allll the time when I'm not woy.

Come at me, OP

I wouldn’t like it either OP. Ignorant.

This is a troll. I’m having a hard time imagining the public place where someone could drink outside AND smoke a joint. Even in DC, where it’s legal to get high, people aren’t smoking weed sitting on the patio at a restaurant or bar.
