So are we still freaking out about unmasked adults at playgrounds?

But, people like you are why we don't go to playgrounds.

But…you’ve been told repeatedly that the likelihood of getting COVID outside is basically zero.

The likelihood of getting covid outside is not zero. Not all adults are vaccinated. Kids are not vaccinated. Kids are in close contact with each other on the playground. The vaccine is to reduce your symptoms. You can still get and spread covid but the goal is for you to be asymptomatic. Great interpretation to meet your needs though.

The still getting and spreading thing isn't true. Keep up with the science! Vaccines = a Wall against the Virus. Yay Vaccines!

Oh, BS. Tell that to the 7 fully vaccinated coaches of the New York Yankees.

Please don’t diminish the vaccines. Breakthrough cases are still very, very limited.

When the CDC said I no longer had to wear it (I am fully vaccinated) outdoors unless I was in a really crowded area, I stopped wearing it outside, including on the playground. I always carry one with me (in case it actually got crowded, which it never does) and if someone asked me to put it on, I would. Otherwise, I've been conservative about this, and feel no need to continue wearing it outdoors.

This is pretty reasonable. Reasons to wear a mask might be:
1. if playground - or school pickup area, etc - got very crowded, as they sometimes do during COVID
2. if wearing one helped with kids keeping their masks on (serving as a model for them)
3. if you were going in and out of doors, and it was easier to leave it on than fuss with it

All this talk about how you can get covid even after full vaccination isn’t exactly going to inspire more people to get vaccinated, you know.
No vaccine is 100%, but the odds that you will contract covid after vaccination are incredibly low.
I mean, really, are none of you ever going to socialize massless again?

Strangers? Yes. How would I know if they’re vaccinated?

MYOB

It's time for Trumpets to shut up.

You have to be the first one at the playground. I’ve noticed if you’re the first and don’t wear a mask, then no one does. But people (ok, women, not so much the men) feel pressured to mask if everyone else is.

Just take your mask off. Others will too.

You don’t know and it doesn’t matter. You’re outdoors. Try not to make out with strangers at the playground and you’ll be safe from COVID.

I’m gonna be honest, people I know who are hard freaking out about the coming end of mask mandates are not exactly the types who had a rollicking social life before Covid. So yeah ........

You reposting this over and over does not make it clever or true.

And the ones I know are contact tracers with medical research backgrounds. They are concerned.

It will definitely feel strange and cause a lot of anxiety to run around maskless after the lockdowns, rates of infection and death toll of the past year. Plus, we do not know who is vaccinated and who is not.

I still haven't had dose #2, and I know many people who are in the line still so we're still masked. I expect that to continue for the next few months.

Just don't worry about those who still wear masks. If they're not bothering you, why would you judge? You have no idea what they've been through.

As an aside, I lived in E Asia for a while. People wear masks in big cities regularly sans COVID so why is it a big deal here?

Exactly. Worry less about why someone might keep a mask on. It costs you nothing.

I actually don’t know who these people are in real life. I am fairly antisocial but have rarely worn a mask outside and am thrilled not to. My few friends are not rabid maskers. My elderly next door neighbor is, but what are the others like? How did they come to be this way?

I certainly wouldn’t make out with you. Gross!! I’m sure the majority shares my view.

WTF Do you care if parents or nannies are masked? If you feel comfortable not wearing a mask don’t wear one. Otherwise stfu.

Why are masked walkers annoying you?

I mean, you are pretty annoying to even find that annoying.
