Yup. Im done with WV ehich goes along with my ongoing boycott of the Eastern Shore because of Andy Harris.

Don't shit on your neighbors.

I’m sure the good people of WV will be just devastated to know that you won’t be pulling up to the local Sheetz in Martinsburg and asking where the Tesla fast charging station is. I guess they’ll just have to go through life knowing one less DC bubble-dweller might not go tubing on the Shenandoah and chuckle about how backwards and racist the locals are.

In fact, WV’s state gov has been spending $$ sending people like me (NP, a DC resident) glossy magazine-style “visit WV” ads in the mail.

The residents of other 50 states should have a say on who gets into the club. And sorry DC, the rest of the country just ain’t that into you.

While we're at it, California is way too large. It needs to be divided in two.

Same for Texas.

California could be divided into 5 states and still be larger than the upper plains states put together.

Florida has two different time zones. Definitely need to split that up, too. That’ll be two more likely Republican senators.

Same goes for the eastern parts of Oregon and Washington, which are so different from the coastal parts of the state that they could be on different planets. So that’s four more Republican senators.

Go ahead, dims. Play the “create a state to get two more senators” game. And then we’ll show you how the game gets won.

It is unconstotutional to do that.

But that isn't what is would be happening with DC.

The point is, many states were formed specifically to game the Senate. With urban migration, the population disparaties are forcing a tyranny of the minority, which is untenable.

Can just as easily go tubing in Virginia, Maryland or Pennsylvania.
Can just as easily enjoy the Appalchins in Virginia, Maryland or Pennsylvania.
Can just as easily drive west via Pennsylvania/Ohio.

Very easy to avoid WVA all together and let them enjoy the losses in tourism and tax dollars.

DC needs to be a state.

It's a no-brainer.

Shame on Manchin.

Then it can be part of Maryland. Like it was originally.

And Maryland already has congressional representation.

Problem solved.

Nope. Maryland doesn't want DC and DC has its own culture and identity; doesn't want to be part of Maryland.

Florida was still in Spanish hands when DC was separated from Maryland. How about we just make Florida its own country?

Definitely would guarantee no more republican governors.

Any other DC liberals out there who would rather just not pay federal taxes? No? Just me?

Sucks for them then, because they’re not going to be a state without a Constitutional amendment.

1) we do pay federal taxes
2) Id prefer living where I have voting representation in Congress.

Uh yes. That’s the point. I’d rather not pay federal taxes than be a state. We can fix either part of “taxation without representation”. I’d rather fix the taxation part than the representation part.

That would never happen. We pay more federal taxes in the aggregate than 22 other states and the highest rate in the nation per capita. Parasitic red states like West Virginia would never agree to give up those tax receipts.

I don’t care about the balance of the Senate. I want statehood so we can have as much say over the DC charter school law as the people of West Virginia. It’s the dumbest set up to have the Congress meddle in DC laws when they want to make a political point. Pot, abortion, guns, schools. America, you aren’t sending your best.

Sure, but if you thought housing prices were high now, it would be insane if DC were to become a federal tax haven.
