Perfume is Unfashionable and Inconsiderate

This is the correct answer. If someone has time to complain about this, they have too much time on their hands.

Mask up. If you can smell the perfume you are too close and not wearing a proper mask.

I will stop wearing perfume when people stop passing stinky gas.

Everyone I know is working remotely. Perfumes are a non issue.

I had a co-worker who is into all things "natural" and by that I mean she reeks of body odor much of the time.

I would never think to complain about her, even though her odor is highly offensive to me. She's a fellow human being, and kindness trumps my aversion to her odor.

This -- how many people are in offices right now?

Also, WFH has made me so much more into perfume. I've tried out a bunch of different scents and gotten sampler pack so I can play around. It's reminded me of how much pleasure good perfume brings me. I wear it for myself. Not a lot, but I like carrying a scent with me all day that makes me feel pretty or relaxed or energized or whatever. I'm probably not going back to an office post-Covid, but I'm definitely going to be wearing perfume daily, whereas I didn't before. The last year has been hard in so many ways. Perfume is fun and pleasant. I'm happy to embrace it.

Sorry. Passing stinky gas is the highlight of my day.

Perfume is not unfashionable. You need to get out of DC more.

It’s true that many American women do not know how to apply scent properly. It is also true that people have allergies and asthma (I do!). But there are millions of people who enjoy fragrance without overdoing it or asphyxiating.

No one should wear perfume to work or every day activities. Save it for nights out.

I suffer from migraines and had to stop attending live theater, symphony performances and other concerts because of the people who bathe in cologne/perfume/after shave lotion prior to a ‘night out’. I got tired of having to walk out on an expensive ticket because someone else’s inconsiderate behavior resulted in hours or days of agony for me.

Perfume/cologne should be applied in very small quantities, able to be smelled only by you and someone who gets very intimate with you.

Would wearing a mask help?

Each day, I use one squirt of one of three perfumes that I have worn for 30 years. I love them, putting them on makes me fill finished in getting ready and they aren't overbearing.

I have asthma and have trouble with fragrances. This is very, very common now. At this point anyone who is wearing perfume is being willfully inconsiderate to others around them. And for those of you who think it bothers no one, maybe people are scared to tell you. I had a lovely coworker who sat on another floor that I purposely avoided seeing in person because of her perfume. I don’t think she ever realized.

Are you still working in the office during COVID and not wearing a mask? This would be the only way you'd smell your coworkers.
