Two Rivers 4th vs Hyde Addison

Don't say "We are an OOB family, but participate". Traditionally PTA board at Hyde has been mostly OOBs! It is truly a citywide school.

We're going for it with hyde. 22 min commute but we only have one kid. I've seen so much positive feedback, seems worth it. Been to campus and wow is it nice. Love the feedback i hear about principal. Ran into registrar in person and she was great

Congratulations. You’ll love Hyde. Please know, the 44 mins in the car with your kid can end up being an incredible bonding/learning experience. Be thoughtful and deliberate about those minutes and you’ll appreciate it years from now.

Don't know what things are like now so can't comment on what OP should do but back in the 90s this was very true.

Totally underwhelmed by current TR leadership.
Exhausted by being impressed upon how lucky we should feel that we are attending the school.
Weary of the other parents who drink the TR Kool Aid.
My child is no academic star, so needs more academic focus, less attention to community building, social issues, etc.
Early on, I was impressed by Two Rivers' commitment to social justice and community--but now I'm left with the impression that it's performative and at the expense of academic instruction.

I have heard similar feedback.

+100. This mirrors our experience. I have 2 kids at TR ES and will be planning on moving them in the near future (probably 2022 school year). There just seems to be so much hype, but once you pull back the curtain...just not a very strong school on many levels. And distance learning, reopening has just been abysmal.

+1 - Was initially impressed then very disappointed over time. We will not be returning.

Anyone have feedback on 3rd-5th grade at Hyde? We're considering moving from our EOTP DCPS for the feeder pattern (assuming it would be grandfathered), but always concerned about the upper elementary drop off in DCPS.

Which school would you be leaving?

West. Happy with the school, nervous for middle school.
