Good dessert to bring as a guest

Anonymous
If I had a lot of time, I might make a layer cake. But since I never seem to have a lot of time, I'd probably make a trifle. East, pretty, and delicious.

Either that or a blueberry or key lime pie.

When I was a kid, my mother's go-to when requested to bring dessert was Texas sheet cake. People LOVE it.

NYT Shortbread jammers. Easy and incredibly good. I think they are better the next day https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1013391-shortbread-jammers

Too late, but my go-to for this is seasonal fruit crisp and vanilla ice cream. And an alternative is a citrus sheet or Bundt cake with lots of fresh berries. Glaze or whipped cream = optional.

Chocolate chip cookies with dark chocolate (lots) and some sea salt. Make a lot of them. Bring some ice cream if you want it to be more substantial.

Homemade though. Everyone loves homemade cookies.

or if you're a novice baker, make a batch of bag cookie dough, then press it into a 9x13 brownie tray. then make a box of 9x13 brownie batter and pour on top. bake.

This thread is why I’d never ask a guest to bring dessert!

I found these almost unbearably rich! Cut in tiny pieces.

Yuck no. Many people do not like bananas. Or pudding. Too divisive. No one in my family, nuclear or extended, would eat that except my one sister.

If you want to show up with a pretty cake that tastes terrible.

My sister makes a delicious, easy trifle (vanilla cake pieces, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and a cream) that is so GOOD and people are always delighted by it. It’s easy to bring and perfect for summer.

The Chantilly cake is really good. But DH once got a chocolate cake there and it tasted like cardboard.
