Good dessert to bring as a guest

Rustic fruit tart. This is a good one: https://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/country-apple-galette

But I've also done them with peaches or pears depending on what's in season. Berries work too and are even easier because you don't have to peel and slice. And the tart dough is generally extremely simple. If you want to get fancy, you can whip up some real whipping cream to bring with you. Huge hit with kids and adults and actually pretty diet friendly as well because there are so few ingredients and most of the sugar just comes from the fruit.

Apple pie and vanilla ice cream

I second banana pudding, except using this recipe having you make the whipped cream. Don’t buy the frozen crap.

Not grits. Something.

Glad you clarified because if you promised me dessert and showed up with grits we wouldn’t be friends.

I vote for pavlova or lemon bars, depending on how posh this party is.

What is the rest of the meal? How many people?

Is the host serving dessert? The likely have something, they'd prefer to serve. When you show up with dessert, they have to serve yours.

It's not potluck. Bring a different hostess gift.

^ nevermind ~ just say you were asked to bring dessert!

Anyway, too often *other* people bring when it's not asked ...

If you're bakery buying: mini pastry, mini eclairs, mini cannoli, mini tartes, cookies x number of people. Have them tray with lid, rather than box.

If you're baking, your signature desserts.
