I wear Philosophy Amazing Grace. It's a scent you can't judge when you first spray it on, but it smells so clean over time.

Me too! I like it for daytime - it just has a clean, soapy scent.

For evening, I still love Coco Chanel.

I'm a woman who likes all the scents made for men. I like to smell like a forest.

Philosophy - Amazing Grace, incredibly fresh, not powdery or floral, just smells like sunshine and cleanliness

Calvin Klein - in2u - I wore this in college, and randomly spritz it again and always get so many compliments

Kate SPade- Bloom smells great and brihgt and cheerful

Then they will self-select and obviously won't participate in this thread. Clearly. Just a thought.

Hahaha. I own 180 full bottles of perfume, dozens of decants, and too many samples to count. I collect it -- fragrance is my hobby. I wear it every day. There are many of us out here. The perfume-collecting community is a wonderful group of people from all over the world. It has been an especially comforting hobby over the past year. Familiar fragrances evoke memories of happier times.

OP, the problem is, there are so many different wonderful perfumes, it is hard to recommend one. I personally find it hard to fathom wearing only one perfume all the time, but clearly many people do. Do you like citrus, floral, orientals, green scents? There is such a great variety of perfumes available. You should try a variety. In these days of Covid, most department stores are not letting you sample their perfumes freely, which makes it difficult. I echo the recommendation to go to the Luckyscent website and buy a bag of samples to try, so that you can narrow down your tastes. If you are going to invest in just one or two perfumes, it is worth spending some money, and perhaps on a "niche" brand instead of something that anyone can pick up at Macy's. Take care of your perfume by keeping it in a cool dark place, like a drawer, and it can last forever.

Wow!! That is a lot of perfume! Dont they turn (in smell)?
Question: i have a botle of chanel #5 from my grandmother that was never opened (it was even in the plastic seal around the box until my kid removed it, grr). its easily 60 years old. its not a collectors item is it?

As long as a perfume is stored in a dark, cool, dry place, it really can last indefinitely. None of my perfumes have gone bad since I started taking care of them. I have vintage perfumes from as long ago as the 30s-40s that still smell wonderful, because they were well cared for.

Yes, your vintage Chanel No. 5 is collectible. If you know that it was well stored, away from heat -- even better. If it is the pure parfum, it is a real treasure! Too bad about the seal, but it may very well still be in excellent condition. You can look on Ebay to get an idea of what it might be worth. The problem with Chanel is that there are a LOT of forgeries from Asia and Russia on the market, so there is always some risk involved in buying it secondhand. Chanel is meticulous about keeping its perfumes of the "gray market" too (e.g., Fragrancenet, FragranceX), so it is very hard to buy for less than retail price. That is why Ebay can be good for both selling and buying, but again -- you have to be careful about forgeries, and buyers that collect vintage perfume know this.

I just stopped by the LeLabo shop in NYC, and I really do like Santal 33. But you might really enjoy their Lys 41. It's a lighter nearly floral, but more of a clean scent. Their Rose one is really nice too.
