How’s tryouts going for Elite teams?

Anonymous
Elite girls teams don't really do open tryouts or ID sessions. McLean, FCV and Richmond teams that are u16 or older are already stacked with DI recruits. Other strong teams that play at that level are already aware of where they need help and have players in mind who are capable of filling those holes. No elite team is using ID sessions to find players. Now U13-14 is a different story. By u15, the fix is in.

Yes of course.

At my DS' club, any players that got id'd at an ID session would be invited to attend practices afterwards. They would then get an invite if the coach liked them after several practices. This is not typically how players get tryouts though. Most approach the coach directly and attend practice(s) during the year.

Probably because it's over saturated with clubs. ECNL wants to take over the soccer world and have just about every team in their league, which waters it down. New Question: What is so wrong with BRYC that they can't get good players? Their 2009 age group used to be strong at the u9 level. Did those players move on to another club?

And you have zero knowledge and yet offer opinions as if you do.

Do you have knowledge of of those things asked? If so, please enlighten us all.

Has anyone heard from a coach after an ID session with an offer or an invite to come to more practices?

Yes my son. After first session he was invited to training with the first team. He’s been training with them once a week for like 6 weeks. I’m not sure wth is happening, but I’ll take the free extra session

The club hasn't extended an offer to join the club (Or invoice for payment)? So is DC playing on two clubs at present?

If you aren’t getting call backs or verbal interest i think the odds are low

Yea they haven’t extended him an “official offer.” But he’s been training with them once a week for almost two months. So he’s not on the official roster, yet. DS tells me that the coach fist pounds him from time to time, but I haven’t heard anything. I’ll talk to them in a week or two

I agree except the 'fix' is in as soon as they go to 11 v 11. It is not so much a fix as you are not going to make a top team if your kid is merely as good as an average player on that team. They need to be better. Top 5 on that team is a rough guess although certainly depends on a teams needs. Not a fix and frankly parents complaining their kid didnt make a team because they were 'as good as' players is silly. Development and history with a club shouldn't be everything but it should count. If they are better they are better. Think about all the kids on the 2nd and 3rd teams of those clubs. They NEVER get called up. You are much better coming from outside a club to make the top team then being internal. Not fair either as a number of them could play with the top team,

Anyway, 1. coaches make up their minds about kids and they are directed to various levels in a club 2. Coaches do like shiny new toys but they need to be strong because 3. they dont want constant turmoil and chaos.

Our NOVA club hasn't had a single U15-U18 session yet and won't till May.

Because Richmond sits on a island and is the only game in the town. What movement is happening down there? I suspect very little

For starters, ECNL doesn’t what to take over the soccer world. I will answer any question you have in reference to this. Ask away and I’ll provide the explanation.
