In-state Asian female from NoVA, 4.43 weighted, 34 ACT, 8 APs + 2DEs

Waitlisted. Showed little interest and blew off the supplemental essay.

Honestly, in this climate, I’m surprised she wasn’t rejected.

It’s fine, she is going to another school she’s likes even more and she’s happy...and glad this admissions season is over.

Nephew got in from a private in Richmond. Never thought he was that bright, but what do I know.

Can't do that and expect to be admitted, in any year.

Which is why I expected a rejection.

Where did you see that? What to cite it to make a reject feel better.

It’s not true, that’s why there’s no link.

W&M ain’t Stanford, bro.

Last night my daughter told me a number close to 2% RD for W&M that she got from Naviance (account needed).

As if all the Naviance data from an RD decision made less than 24 hours ago is currently up to date.

LMAO. Not even close. It will be, as it always is, between 35 and 37%.

Maybe you haven't noticed but we had a pandemic this year, and acceptance rates are very different than usual. At our MCPS high school (Churchill) the applied/acceptance ratio for W&M is

2021: 4/39
2020: 10/23
2019: 10/22

How is this data up to date one day after RD? Aren’t students responsible for entering this data (or telling their guidance counselor)? And isn’t it spring break?

And even if twice as many applied you still don’t get to the ridiculous 2%.

Naviance has direct links with both the college and the high school, so they know the results right away.

But I agree the 2% number doesn't seem right. My guess is that the number is less than 10% this year, though.

How do you see results by year in Naviance?

I'm sorry. Maybe the other student is an athlete? (not saying this because they're URM, but because of the relatively low stats, which are par for the course for athletes).

They had 17,000+ applications this year vs. 14,000+ in a normal year and the entering class is usually a little less than one tenth of that. If the ED/EA rate is higher, the RD rate must be significantly less than 10%.

You are missing the yield factor.
