Where did you see that? What to cite it to make a reject feel better.

Sorry, reject -- you're not one of the 98 percent. More than 2 percent got in.

That’s totally fine – still just wondering what the acceptance rate is and where it’s cited.

DD has 3.5 GPA, 1 AP and 1250 SAT from Yorktown HS. Got accepted to W&M. URM.

Lol okay troll my post if you’d like. I’m happy for any URM or first gen student that shoots their shot. I’m white and was first gen back during my time and have done pretty well. Our DD has a few good options at other schools and she’ll do just fine. If someone else’s DC gets to shoot their shot at W&M, it’s all good.

If those are both true, I am disgusted. DH and I are immigrants, and not white, but I firmly believe we should all be judged on academic merit when it comes to college.

DD rejected in the regular decision cycle. 4.3 weighted, has taken maybe 8 APs, strong extra curriculars (including national level leadership) and works 15 hours a week (thru the pandemic too). I thought her essay was superb but I guess they didn't! She's super disappointed. We are in DC, so maybe out of state didn't help.

Ugh.
There is something rotten in the state of college admissions...

That's fine that you believe that. Here in your new country, we have a long legacy of treating non-whites like shit, in a way that has had lasting generational impact, so it's fair to provide a little extra opportunity IMO.

Happy for our Yorktown admit above. I'm a W&M alum and glad to have her aboard!

W&M historically gets almost twice as many apps from girls than from boys, so it's really tough for OOS girls. I'm sorry your DD is disappointed. I hope she has another choice she can get excited about.

Everyone should steer clear lest you get accidentally whipped during the self-flagellation.

This is so ridiculously false, it's not even funny. C'mon, if you're gonna stir the pot, try harder like throwing in a massive merit award, an amazing research opportunity, a single room and free parking.

DD would rather go to college with the troll’s fake DD than with any real offspring of the pot-stirring troll.
