Maternity bathing suits....a special level of hell.

It doesn't have much in the way of top support, but I'm not an athletic swimmer, I'm a floater, so that was less important to me.

I also agree that have less self esteem issues while pregnant--I felt pretty super cute in my maternity bathing suit!

I'm almost positive the chemical in topically applied self tanners is safe for use during pregnancy, however your skin may be more sensitive so always to as patch test even if you've used the same product before. I'd also avoid inhaling the spray/fumes from a spray-on type of application (home or salon) if possible.

I should have added that I hated wearing bathing suits before I got pregnant, definitely didn't have the body for a bikini!

Give it a rest. Pregnancy affects all of us differently. I know that for me, especially with this pregnancy, my thighs and arms have gotten noticeably fatter. Yes, in large part due to inactivity (I blame the cold winter), but also because this is my third and my body just never quite recovered from the other two. I am not embarrassed by the belly by any stretch - but I really could do without the changes to the rest of my body.

I'm with you, sister. Proud of the belly; wishing I could hide the rest. Ug.

The first time I was pregnant I bought a Gap maternity one-piece suit on sale that made me look like--in the words of my brother-in-law--a brown Easter egg. I'm a little wiser this time around and bought two tankinis from Motherhood Maternity and really like them both. I wore them on a beach vacation and now to the pool with my daughter every week for swim lessons. The nice thing about swimsuits while pregnant is that perhaps all the people that might look at me will assume that the cellulite is from being pregnant when in fact it's because I eat too many cookies. Even better is that I am finding it increasingly difficult to get in and out of the kiddie pool and will very soon need to ask for assitance. Nice.

Target has decent bathing suits. I thing it's when you're 3-4 months pregnant that people may look at you thinking "is she pregant or just fat?". I was 4 mo. pg. when I first wear my bathing suit in Hawaii. Trust me, I didn't care at all what other people might be thinking. I was just enjoying my first pregnancy snorkeling in the pacific ocean.

I just got some "padding shorts" at REI. They are made for women to kayak or canoe, have a draw string top I can adjust and come down to my knees. I've never liked my thighs, so this is great. I'm going to get a seperate top or just wear a sports bra. I just want to float around, and not look like an oversized floral pillow, so I'm pretty happy.

Go shopping instead.

Why must you hang out by the pool or ocean?

my apartment has a pool, and I was in it every day last summer so I bought 2 suits from Motherhood Maternity - spent $90 on a tankini & a regular maternity suit. Spent too much! anyway, I wore them every day, so maybe not.

I got really bad stretch marks, and I wanted those covered up. Other than that, I didn't even think about my butt, arms, etc, and I was heavy before I got prego. To each his own.

Listen just go to the Germantown Indoor Rec Center pool or splash park. I have no idea why but the women there are the heaviest I ever seen in my life. At 9 months pregnant, I was the smallest person in the pool and I was huge pregnant!
