There's a principal who has had multiple citations against them for speaking inappropriately to parents, treating some kids inappropriately, for violating federal laws, and the school system has been sued because of this principal. But, they are covered in teflon and they are still in place. So "ineffectual" is going to get anybody removed if actual cash MONEY lawsuit settlements doesn't get them removed.

Some parents are nuts, and try to sue the school system because they want them to pay for expensive private schools. They argue that their kid needs music therapy or to learn out on the woods. Maybe the principal said, hey, we can’t provide music therapy. We don’t do that. That has nothing to do with how effective a principal is.

Pretty sure I know who this one is. Lawsuits because the school denies special education services. There are multiple cases so it's not a one time thing. They absolutely need to pay for private school in these cases.

Thank you. APS has fantastic legal representation so no, they will not pay for music appreciation and horse back riding but it's cute that you think that's what parents are angry about when their kids are not being taught to read, write, spell and do math by a N. ARL Es b/c the principal is a very bad seed.

Anyway, OP is stuck with theirs if we are stuck with ours.

So parents wouldn’t be angry if kids are not being taught to read, write or do math in a S. Arlington school? What a weird detail. Yes there are S Arlington schools where many parents may not be as assertive or demanding due to language, cultural or socioeconomic issues but I find the tone of this statement strange.

you are quoting me and I am assuming OP is from N. ARL. My statement is because all of the problems I see with admins are here in NArl. Many, but not all S. ARL schools do a lot for their populations, especially sp. ed. I also am aware APS lost a law suit regarding the ESL pop so it's got some serious flaws. Of the people who have had problems in the schools I'm referencing, and the one I specifically referenced, a couple of families moved to a S. arl school and had the kids' needs better met.

That's why I made the comment. Of course APS needs to each all kids to read, write, spell and do math. If they can't, principals need to be removed; for sure. But covid ineffectual-ness is not going to cut it (wrapping back to the OP's message). I got us way off topic didn't i. It's IEP season. I'm sensative.

She was a nice person but just didn’t have the leadership skills or the savvy to understand what the community needed. They brought in a veteran to replace her.

APS is a small system with very involved parents. There’s no way they’d keep an administrator who was really ineffective around for very long.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Can I have one of your magic pills please?
