Is about this particular Texas mayor. There are two other threads about the general situation in Texas.
This particular Texas mayor is a monster, or at least talks like one. That’s who this thread is about. Not everyone from Texas.
What is your brain telling you this thread is about? |
He quit. So how’s that “unelecting”? And what does that have to with all the like minded elected GOP in Texas who think the same way but kept their mouths shut? |
Yes PP, my sister and nephew are freezing their @sses off in San Antonio and they agree with everything we've said on this thread about idiots like that Mayor. |
Why did he quit? Do you think he just got bored, like Sarah Palin? Or maybe his constituents told him to go take a hike and not come back. |
Sure, I've got friends and family in Austin, Dallas, and in west Texas. This guy isn't representative of west Texas. The opposite, really. |
A classic, dumb-f**k, fake-tough-guy Republican dick. You can bet he's "anti-government," while sucking the public teat for his government paycheck. The imbecility and hyped-up, poorly educated, emotionally charged tone and content of his email is a clear depiction of a large swath of white Republican men. They really are #TheBestPeople. MAGA! |
1980 Republican presidential candidate Ronald Reagan, “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, ‘I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.’” Grover Norquist, “I don’t want to abolish government. I just want to reduce it to the size where I can drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub.” Glen Beck, "What we don't have a right to is healthcare, housing, or handouts. We don't have those rights." Trent Lott, "Government does best when it helps people help themselves. Human dignity is found not in a handout but in being able to do for one's self." Republicans have: Repeatedly refused to raise the minimum wage. Consistently tried to repeal, handicap, or defund the health care law that has brought affordable health insurance to 16 million people. Supported the budgets that slash funding for food stamps, Medicaid (health care for the poorest of the poor), Meals on Wheels for homebound elderly, and other social service programs. Refused to extend unemployment benefits to jobless Americans during the Great Recession and fought those extensions during the pandemic. Blocked the expansion of Medicaid for low-income and disabled people in Republican states Proposed significant cuts in Head Start, the preschool program for low-income children Proposed steep cuts to Pell grants to help low-income students go to college. But, yeah, this guy is "off brand" for the Republican party for the last 40 years. |
Shout it from the rooftops, my man. I hope that now that Texans have borne the brunt of such a despicable political philosophy, they'll see the error of their ways and vote for sensible politicians. But I won't hold my breath. |
Unfortunately, they'll be angry because their government failed them because they deserve those things from their government, because they are "makers" not "takers" - not like those underserving, scamming, welfare wastrels. In the immortal words of the Bard... |
Do we really need four threads essentially about Texas’ power grid failures? |
+1. |
Excellent post. Excellent, excellent post. |
And yet, as the OP points out, people like this are absolutely fine with taking a government salary. Why? Wouldn’t that be “ Socialist”? Or does it count as “helping himself” ? |
Wow. When you lay it out so starkly, it's so obvious, isn't it? Great post. |
Except right now that don't have the water working either. |
