It looks like it varies by location. The GP location has 8-10 as its lowest age group, also called Bronze 2.

If you are interested in the GP location and you have a younger child, just send them an email.

When will your child turn 9? Piece of advice, steer clear of the RMSC Rockville location for the 8 and under group. The coach routinely yells and belittles swimmers in front of their peers which leads to a culture of children talking trash about each other. I regret not moving my child earlier.

RMSC parent of a mini in Rockville and I will note this is outdated information. The coach is amazing and very communicative with the parents. Her son swims on the team too and they do a lot of social activities. Perhaps they had a different coach in three years ago.

Yes, I have heard the same thing from other parents, that the Rockville RMSC minis coach is really good.

We used to swim with ISS (Rockville mini) when Jeri was not yet the head coach (she worked with lane 1/2). Our swimmer likes her very much and she is very encouraging even when we had summer team meet against hers. Glad to know she is ISS head coach now. But many ISS swimmers switched sites/clubs after graduating from ISS due to their abhorrent junior group schedules (see the other 4:30 AM practice thread)

current minis coach at Rockville is great. it was the old coach (who coaches another group) that used yelling as her style of coaching. rmsc Rockville has a few good coaches, but also some of the worst at all rmsc as well. maybe the worst at all of rmsc is the Seniors coach

Different poster, but if the RMSC website is up to date, I agree with the PP that advised taking your child elsewhere. The coach is aggressive, mean spirited and favors swimmers from the same ethnic background as herself. Wish I had pulled my kid earlier.

WL is no longer the head ISS coach?

Is Wendy the former ISS coach who yells a lot? The current coach is Jeri and she’s great!

Our family has had 3 years or so with WL as coach and our experiences have been positive. And we are not same ethnic background.

Looks like she’s now the Junior 1 head coach.

that is opposite to our impression. Have you talked to the coach about her expectation and requirement? Or simply hearsay from your kids? I did notice some disruptive kids in the mini group. Literally, they should be put on deck as they were wasting others and their own time in the pool (it's not summer team by all means). Our swimmer is not in her groups, but based on our limited interaction, I found she is the most responsive coach in the site. She also gave good advice to swimmers. She might have a different style of coaching. But we found her being reasonable and accommondating.

I’ve witnessed it first hand.
