Nobody ever said that school is just daycare. Work on your reading comprehension.

Well if you were paying attention only those that are returning to in person learning are eligible for the vaccine. Sounds like a bunch of #alternativefacts you are spouting.....

Havw they not expanded it to ALL after that initial push? Also vaccinating MD and VA residents who teach in DC?

Go look at other threads lots and lots of responses that all school is daycare and teachers need to get off their high horse

I’m not sure why anyone would consider it controversial to say that one part of school is daycare. People pay taxes and have structured their lives with the expectation that their kids will be in school during certain times.

Past a certain point, if teachers aren’t willing or able to meet that expectation, they shouldn’t expect to receive a paycheck from the public purse.

Wonder what show they will watch on the tv!!! Bridgerton was overrated in my opinion, but maybe they’d like Lupin!

No they haven’t. And not all appts are being used yet either.

You hadn't realized that during our current state of viral spread, they wouldn't be so stupid as to actually do live instruction?

Well, joke's on you, OP.

There are trolls here on DCUM that aim to divide us on race.

I do wonder who the teachers will be looking at, when they talk to 10 kids in-person, and a bunch at home at the same time. Will there be a camera in the back of the room? Will the the teacher be sitting down in front of a computer? Who will they call upon when asking questions? Will the remote kids and in-person kids hear each other, or will the in-person teacher be the only voice?
This method of teaching simultaneously in-person and remotely has been used in other countries in the pandemic, because they had locked down harder initially and had lower numbers. Has it been used elsewhere in the US a lot? and I wonder how much the DCPS teachers/staff were able to learn from those other experiences.
Also, if there are 2 groups of kids taught in-person by the same teacher several hours a day on different days, and a kid tests positive, don't both groups of kids, don't both groups of kids have to quarantine?

It is being used all over the US now, and isn’t totally new but this is on a new scale. Think about a child out with a long term illness (pre-pandemic). Sometimes this is their accommodation.

God knows how DCpS will do it but usually there us a laptop with zoom etc on near the teacher in front of the room. The teacher has to shift their gaze between students in the room and those on the screen. They should call ok students from both groups. It isn’t easy.

My God. This is probably the most idiotic comment I have ever read on DCUM. And that, obviously, is saying something. That people in this city can be so scientifically illiterate and apparently totally ignorant of goings on around the rest of the country and the entire world is very very sad.
