That been said, if they figure it out, I really don’t care. |
Especially if you're white and never leave spring valley. |
| The experience sounds similar to all of the Zoom admissions assessments my DC just did for K. What was so off putting about this one? They have all been the same, in my opinion. Not an overly positive experience, but nothing scarring my child for life either. |
We were just talking in terms of the title school, NPS. It was bought up because they mention about nurture and it didn't come across as nurturing with the very cold assessment. What was your school? This post is about NPS. |
NPS has a "special sauce", but admin seems more complacent in recent years to lean on that, that to lead on that. |
| DC's cousin goes to NPS and grades 1-6 are still only at school 2 days a week. Is that nurturing? Science and common sense please. |
All area schools might want to look at their last year (ie 6th or 8th or 12th) and get them in more. Those kids are generally responsible and wont get a re do on the memories that make last year of elementary, middle or HS. I can see logistics and reality guiding the other years. Especially just getting teachers immunized. |
Lmao! Are you really comparing days in school to nurture? Use your brain! |
Sorry I wasn’t clear. We did NPS and a few others. They were all the same. |
|
Look, as an NPS parent and someone who has been involved in school life in the past, I can vouch for the nurturing environment. It's real, and it is what the teachers do very well across the board. The socio-emotional support my children have received over the years has been so treasured by our family.
This sounds like an off day, and I know that the Zoom meetings are new this year. Zoom admissions are just a crapshoot in general, I am sure, because Zoom interviews with ADULTS have been garbage for me at my own workplace. I do not think it is likely that it was the K teachers on a Saturday, but who knows. |
Prospective parent - it was in fact Kindergarten teachers. However, I took the zoom with a grain of salt. I didntcoach my kid and I let her be herself. Although, she was quite dry and shy because she’s meeting them for the first time. The zoom really didn’t show her verbal capabilities or academic capabilities. However, it is what it is and I’m a firm believer of what for you is for you. However, the whole zoom thing, in my opinion, will not be a good indicator for some kids. |
| I think at the end of the day, it’s gonna come down more to the teacher recs and balancing the classroom. They don’t want a full room of extroverts. It’ll also be how many girls vs boys. In addition to diversity. Who knows... |
NPS is not diverse. At all. Unless you consider the shades of white in the paint fan diverse. |
|
That’s why I said diversity. If you had a color kid who did an average assessment, they might get admitted solely because they need a pop of color.
Same with St. Pats. No diverse at all! |
And if you are a kid of color, you should run away from a school that accepts you to add a pop of color. |
