| how competitive are admissions at NPS for K compared to other dc privates? |
| K is probably the toughest admission year |
|
I was told K is tough. As a matter of fact, last year one day after the application deadline, I asked could I submit a late application and was told they already had too many and to check back in April to see if they have spots.
I will say I attended their open house this year and they mentioned that are accepting a few extra children this upcoming year for K. |
| Rarely anyone's first choice, nice safety school. |
I somewhat agree but with COVID, I wouldn’t be surprised. Also, I know of kids who have been rejected so I wouldn’t say “safety school”. |
| My kid had an assessment for K and it was weird. They claim the assessment was going to be with humility, blah blah and the teacher my son had was horrible. She breezed through the questions in like 10 minutes. The admissions director seemed cold during the zoom. Just has me rethinking the school all together. The teacher had my son like a robot: Your name, last name, how old are you, birthday, etc. no easing into as you should do with your kids as they claim to be early childhood oriented. Sorry for the rant! |
When was this? |
Ha. You have no idea |
This admission season. Early January on a Saturday. I think the 9th. We will decline the spot if accepted. |

NPS has a reputation for being warm and nuturing if nothing else, so one person's zoom admission interview might not be the most telling sign.
I think that for K all privates will be very competitive next year, since parents of that age group are rightfully still nervous about possible distance learning and want to secure a spot in a private school. |
m True. Which makes me more nervous that the Zoom didn’t go all the way great for my kid. |
Wow. Way to out yourself. You must really not care. |
I really don't. I said what I said. |
|
Good for you!

Curious, were the other K "visits" any better though? Don't they all do that type of questioning?
