Teachers could have all the instructional materials they want if they get rid of those silly coaches. FCPS has spending problems. They aren't underfunded. |
I think some of them have. I don't think virtual instruction is all that easy. Gatehouse is another story. |
I do agree that homeschoolers should get funding. I think that would be approved strongly at the state level. |
Great! Since it’s so easy why are you complaining again? Growing a garden is easy and fun — especially if you have a 5 year old helping out. |
This is parenting. Do you expect schools to pay for summer camps? Activities, the books you buy your kids, the museums you take them to? |
Yes, if my tax money already paid for the camps, but they closed them and I had to balance my own job and teaching them how to play soccer or to learn the violin. |
Just stop. |
I am no Constitutional scholar, so please correct me if I am wrong, but I do not think that a free public education is actually a *right*. IF a state has such a system in place then they must provide equal opportunity for all, BUT what if tomorrow VA just said they were scrapping the whole thing? What would you do then? Demand money? From whom?
If you have a problem with the FREE resources provided to you (I know, I know, you’re taxpayers 🙄) then maybe you should take some proactive steps to improve things. Otherwise, I think there is a saying about begging and choosing that might be applicable... |
If it’s ‘called parenting’ why have a school system at all? Shouldn’t the burden of education rest on the shoulders of the parent? Why have hospital systems? It’s called ‘being an adult and taking care of yourself’ Why have roads? Can’t you ‘be an adult and use your legs to get around?’ |
I would absolutely demand money if VA scrapped public education. I would expect a large reduction of taxes. Your point? |
Suck it up- Just like all the parents of special needs children who have had to pay for tutors and therapies that the the schools/society has chosen to not provide. |
Don't you get a tax credit? |
IF TEACHERS WERE NURSES *parent shows up at the hospital, kid has broken leg* "It's called being a parent! Set the bone yourself. We're not risking our lives to fix your kid." *shuts door; cashes full paycheck* |
Our society has placed unreasonable demands on working parents over the past year. The concept of a tax credit or other way to financially boost families struggling to juggle work, school, kids, etc. during a pandemic should not be dismissed outright. |
this doesn't ooze "privilege" then I don't know what does. What do you think low-income families with parents working multiple jobs do? No one is reimbursing them...we are in the middle of a once-in-a-century GLOBAL PANDEMIC. Your life is going to be inconvenienced. Your children are going to have some inconveniences as well. Your kids will be ok. You will be ok. You do not need to be compensated for your "time, stress and best effort."
HEY TEACHERS. THIS APPLIED TO YOU TOO. HOW's THAT 20 PERCENT REDUCTION IN INSTRUCTIONAL DUTIES GOING? |
