African american kids were not admitted. Not that they just choose not to go.

There were six Black kids admitted to Class of 2024 and they turned TJ down as inhospitable.

And how do you know this? Are you telling me you know all these 6 Black kids and all said that they "turned TJ down as inhospitable?"

And to the PP who said Asian kids don't really want to go to TJ but are forced by their parents, so how can you be sure that Black or Hispanic kids want to attend TJ?

If it doesn't and all these kids go on to have successful jobs and families can we stop treating gifted magnet schools as if they are an actual issue to resolve in the US?

Because people at TJ, FCPS admin, and VDOE made it a big issue this year.

Also because no African American students chose to join this fall's freshmen class, and that concerned many people in the wake of the protests this summer.

TJ students have a reputation for being racist toward Black TJ students. This is well known in this area among Black social circles.

See other posts in this thread as examples of their parents' racism.

Proof?

Your right about racism in this thread, it’s directed towards Asians though. Just like the many other posts against Asian American students and parents in this forum. And you are blind if you think otherwise.

Scream racism all you want, but you should take a healthy look in the mirror the next time you say racist.

If any other racial group chose not to join a 70% black high school even if it had the best academics, those people would be called fools and racists.

Instead, we have to change the entire system in the middle of a pandemic with inequities far greater in regular public schools due to distance learning to make TJ more palatable to those that cannot bear the idea of going to school with a bunch of Asian AMERICAN kids.

Asian students at TJ are bullied by black TJ students and then black TJ students turn around and spread lies about being bullied. My kid was constantly bullied by a black TJ student and this same black TJ student (boy) assaulted another Asian TJ student but the school refused to take any meaningful disciplinary action against the boy and this black TJ student was accepted to an Ivy league school with an average academic credentials and with history of bulling and assaulting TJ students. Wonder how this boy was able to gain acceptance to an Ivy League school?

^^ My kid was Asian American.

When a black TJ kid lies about being harassed, the world has to stop but when you hear of Asian American TJ kid being bullied/assaulted by a black TJ student, nothing happens. No Washington Post, no coverage, no outrage, no policy change.
