What kind of kid birthday parties have your kids been invited to during the pandemic?

We have a fire pit and suggested a fire pit s’mores party but DH thinks kids and a fire plus marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers would make it not socially distant and masks would come off. Back to square one for my February birthday child.

Would you attend a backyard or playground party in the cold?

DP.

I’ve thrown 3 small outdoor Bday parties:
August - allowed to invite 3 friends (outdoors)
December - allowed to invite 4 friends (outdoors & masks)
January - allowed to invite 5 friends (outdoors & masks)

In every invite I said - I know it’s a weird time, no pressure to attend - but I have had 100% attendance at all 3. In my group I think people are looking for lower risk ways to get kids together outdoors.

Now I’m done hosting bdays til next August

May I ask what you did at your small outdoor parties? I am especially curious at your January party.

I have a child with a birthday party in 3 weeks. I am watching the weather and hoping to have a very small outdoor party.

We did outdoor laser tag - I hired someone to come do it - I can share the vendor if you live in the DMV. It worked out really well. I planned it less than a week in advance.

Please share your laser tag vendor. Are 5 kids enough for a laser tag party?

My kids have been to laser tag parties but they were all more than 10 kids, maybe more like 20 kids.

Where can you go mini golf?

I would love to take my kids. I thought everything shut down for the fall/winter.

Do you think bowling would be an ok birthday party outing? 2-3 kids masked?

What's the closest place around that offers tubing? Have always thought that would make a great winter B-day activity if not too far.

We had 8 kids total with all of my kids playing and that worked for teams of 4 and 4. I know he can do up to 16 at a time. You should ask him about 5 kids. I’m sure the guy has experience and give you advice on how to work it out. I’m sure he’s had odd number before.

We went to the Dulles golf and sports park. They also had gemstone panning, which the kids really enjoyed.

The only birthday parties we have attended have been close family (nephew, niece) outdoors for pizza and cupcakes back when the weather was good.

A huge 50 person party without social distancing measures. We declined

Most gave up the pandemic birthday parties this fall. I was surprised but my 5 yr old was fine without having a party.

Virtually my gym party?! Wow. I used to work at my Gym years ago.

Drive by in the summer. The worst. Please don’t do this to your kid or your friends. So awkward and devoid of joy. Outdoor ice skating in December. This was fun and felt normal. Obviously masks required at the outdoor rink. Outdoor play date in front yard masked. This was also fun but it didn’t bother me that kids circled in and out of 6 feet orbit. If you are super uptight about the 6 foot rule even when masked and even when outside this won’t work. Tubing would be fun. Liberty enforces masks and limits numbers. The indoor area is closed except the bathroom.
