did any schools close between Thanksgiving and Christmas?

Huh...St. Andrew's never made this commitment.

St. Andrew's closed the campus to students (except preschoolers, I think) between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Expected to be open again on January 11.

Agree, not sure what drove that. Is a head scratcher.

Why? Beauvoir closed too? A couple of pre schools have had to close with Covid like illnesses and cases so not a bad choice really.

Because it’s only 120 students, they already had small pods and distance learning doesn’t work for preschool and K.

I am applying to SAES for 9th but part of why we are leaving MCPS is to ensure my son actually get to go to school.

Haha, PP! That one went over your head. Think about what just happened at
Primary Day.

I don't think you should make your choice purely on the Thanksgiving to Christmas decision of the school. They just recognize that families will want to travel or gather locally for Thanksgiving and that it's hard to expect for those families to follow through and abide by the community agreements to stay home from school after the potential exposure such activities are associated with.

To me these December closures say more about community behavior than about the schools willingness to open. Look at Beauvoir and Primary Day as prime examples. Both have been quite committed to being open up until Thanksgiving. They just don't trust their families not to travel/gather...and I don't blame them.

And St Andrews. Big mistake for both.

I think the opposite, kudos too both for doing the right thing as the numbers of people dying and hospitalized is only climbing.

You are a teacher.

What happened there? I’m not a current parent but considering it for next year.
