Breakfast burritos

As I sit here in San Diego eating a delicious (and cheap!) breakfast burrito, I was JUST thinking about how there’s nothing like this in the DC area. I do have to vote for Anita’s though...I love their breakfast burritos!

If you want meat a slice of microwave bacon. Seriously, it takes five minutes and really good. This is my breakfast most days.

I can and have made them before but I just want to not cook a meal this time. I’m out of green Chile

You juat said something that makes me think you are looking for something that doesn't exist in the DMV. Anyone who says they are out of green chile is from New Mexico. As a Mexican-American whose family is from NM, you are SOL. I am so so sorry! I haven't even found decent chilaquiles here. If you find some place, please post! I will go!

You're close, I am from Colorado so it's a slightly different style, but I'd take either When I first moved here it was hard to even find tacos, now that those options have expanded I was hoping that there was some secret breakfast burrito hiding somewhere. I have heard this place is pretty good and they have chilaquiles on the menu. I might try it soon.

PP with NM family here. Anita's isn't very good. I want it to be good but it never delivers. I was racking my brain and realized that there used to be a bodega every Saturday at the Reston farmers market. They have awesome breakfast burrittos--they are the right proportion and not overstuffed monstrosities and the ingredients are on point. The chorizo is good too! I haven't been since the start of Covid so I don't know if it survived but the peiple who made them own the store in the Lake Anne parking lot and you can pick up food there!

I might go back to the market and check if they are there this weekend. I think the market runs one more week.

The Trader Joe’s soy risk is surprisingly good (I’ve tried other brands of fake chorizo and thought they were all bad).

MegaMart in Riverdale and Americana Grocery in Falls Church both sell good homemade chorizo. You have to ask for Mexican specifically though or else you'll get Salvadoran which is not nearly as good.

+1 for this stand at eastern market. The PoPville article says they are out in Saturday’s and Tuesday’s. I’ve never seen them out on Tuesday but they are typically out at eastern market on Saturday and Sunday. Really good!

Oddly, the best. Mexican food I’ve had in Maryland was in Hagerstown of all places. There is a family run Mexican place that is phenomenal...I think it’s called Carlitos?

For the person hunting for chilaquiles, I think they have them at chuy’s. It’s a chain but other things I’ve had there have been decent. I think they are aiming for a NM vibe.

I miss Sonoran style tortillas more than anything, but not enough to move back to the desert. Sigh.

For anyone who hasn’t yet been introduced to the magic of Parry Gripp...you’re welcome.

You expect to be thanked for this terrible video? For real?
