You are super selfless, I can tell! FYI people care a heck of a lot more about privates eliminating APs then where your kid applies to college.

I mean, I could see why people would be upset to be paying tuition to schools that can’t even be bothered to offer AP classes and have some concern that the competitive advantage they perceive over public schools that do may be eroding, but that isn’t the topic of my thread.

Take a look at the non-flagship and regional universities in other states. On the West coast, Washington State University, Western Washington University and Portland State University might be good options. (stay away from the California schools, they are too crowded and underfunded right now).

She shouldn't have a problem getting into the flagships in WA and OR with those stats. UW might be more of a match than a safety (and also has excellent medical programs), but U of O would be a sure bet. PSU and UW are the only truly urban schools listed here.

If she REALLY wants to go to a certain school, choose a soft major; philosophy, sociology, and etc. Can always switch to another major later on .

Maybe your kid's depression wasn't only related to your divorce. Good luck to her, but you need to learn how to be a kinder person. There is a way to call out people who change the subject while not alienating others.
