You may be upset but I’m sorry you have a myopic view of only what works for your child. DL is not working for my child and he was not offered a spot. It was a terrible plan and DCPS knew it. They refuse to ask school staff for any advice and this is what happens |
So now neither of your kids get to go back. All year. Enjoy. I did get a spot so I am not sure how I'd feel if I didn't - bitter - but I can't imagine deciding that no one getting a spot would be a better solution. I guess we'll never know for sure. |
so this plan is out and you “support the teachers”. my question is how long will that last? what if they refuse to return all year? |
| At the end of the day, this is a job for teachers. People act like teachers need to go the extra mile because of their precious students. But we really don’t pay teachers enough or respect them enough in the US for them to have to do so much more than regular office workers who are mostly working from home |
It’s interesting how nobody will answer the question of how long you will accept DL for. |
You people are delusional. There is no what it. Done deal. |
I think these mommies actually believe there will be a kumbayah moment in January and we’ll all go back for term 3. |
No, which is why I answered that way. I’m also a scientist with some experience in virology and am firmly in the cautious camp. I’ve been urging people to be careful, wear masks and social distance all along, and look where we are. Schools cannot open. Sorry. |
why can schools open everywhere except here? why can private schools be open? |
so you’re ok staying closed through 2021. |
| The plan sucked. WTU sucks. I hope this forces true negotiation, but I worry it’s just total victory for teachers. Also, I’m annoyed that the Chancellor didn’t announce this over the weekend if they were going to; why force kids to miss a day of school? Just to force teachers to take a paid day? So petty. |
How long? I guess we'd have to ask COVID. You do know that there is a pandemic, right? If it is the entire school year, I am fine with that. If we get to fall 2021, ask me then. That is more than 9 months away. 9 months ago we were in February and we had no idea that 230,000 Americans were about to die. So chill. Take it day by day and week by week. There's no rush. |
Why are you badgering people with a date. We are in an global pandemic without any clue what's happening next. If you tell me everyone adheres to mask rules and our cases go down to almost nil in two weeks, i would say sure I'd push for opening school immediately. But if we're still in this shitshow of carelessness and case spikes, then yes it could be 2022 and I wouldn't send my kids to school. with regards to teachers, I think if DCPS created a plan that's sensible and involved principals, teachers and SN parents, they would get a lot more teachers on board and oppose the fringe views of WTU. DCPS overplayed their hands this round and now united the teachers for the most part with this shitty plan, and that's why we are where we are now. There was no way these schools were even ready to open next week (facts will come out when these school "walkthroughs" happen this week). |
lol "At-risk families are making it work!" And homeless families are just fine without homes! Evidence: They are still alive. At risk families are making it work? Evidence: I have a good feeling about it. Neat! |
| I am upset my son won’t be in person (IEP) and all of my anger is directed at the geniuses downtown. |
