I found "the one" later in life and it still can be really, really hard. Turns out even the love of your life can arrive to you bruised and damaged and it can take lots of patience, understanding and pain on your part to help him through it. I often have felt it would have been easier to be with someone I loved enough and who was generally easier.

In addition, I would tell your cousin to take a road trip and explore areas- down south, out west and meet men there. I've lived in 6 different cities in my life and DC has the worst pool of men Ive ever seen in my life.
