Yup

Good prediction. Numbers are low!! No one died today! Everything is looking up! I told you can play sports! I wish I could tell you to open schools, but I can't. Sill, I think you should open them as soon as possible. There's no reason not to open (well, except for budget, bussing, and other logistical issues).

Maybe he will announce more funding to help districts reopen?

I thought the numbers were much higher today. We didn't have any deaths which is a first since March but the numbers were in the high 700's. Even Virginia's new case number was lower..

The numbers were higher today. Hogan, though, tends to focus on the positivity rate and ignores other metrics. He has only recently started discussion the number of new cases per 100,000 and only mentions that metric when the numbers are particularly good.

We need:

1. Air filtration upgrades.

2. 100% mask compliance (mask availability for kids coming to school without one, and immediate pickup by parent for kids who take off their masks or touch someone else's, then suspension).

3. Partitions between each students at lunchtime (in classroom or elsewhere).

Please and thank you.

We need far more than that to safely reopen.

Continue my list, please!

Those are dumb, at least with the expectations you seen to have. Yes, require masks, but your proposed penalties are insane.

And partitions are useless. Return elementary kids to class, and have them eat at their desks.

Positivity rate isn't all that meaningful! It's like he's just looking at the data that helps reinforce his preferred narrative.

I agree with 1 & 2. I don't care for 3 (but would like option for students to eat outside/at their desks spaced out). Students who come to school sick need to be picked up immediately by parents. Problem is, this is usually willful on the parent's part. They drop the sick kid off, go to work and then can't leave their important meeting... or we can't get hold of them.

To me, this says we need federally mandated sick leave, no repercussions, for parents to take care of their children. Otherwise, they'll keep sending them in sick.

I also dream of reduced class sizes, but realize I'm actually dreaming.
