Wife is driving me crazy

Anonymous
I did this to my husband lol. We went gluten free and diary free for a few months. I wasn't even pregnant at the time.

I suggest just waiting it out. Sneak what you must have. She's a reasonable person, and it's a normal thing people do. It will pass.
I have 3 kids under 5 and once the third was born everything flew out the window for a while

On the real OP you may wanna take start taking some testosterone supplements or something, get your confidence back cause you sound like you straight up neutered.
Wife done snatched all your masculinity lol.

Dude...you a grown ass man.
Go out get a plastic container and stuff it with Twinkies and Oreo’s and Twizzlers and whatever the hell you want and tell her, “This is my shit.”

End of crisis.

As for food its healthier for you but yeah sometimes you just want a little bit of junk. Why don't you have some snacks available to munch on.

Gluten is silly. Unless you are coeliac you don't need to restrict gluten, there is no health benefit.

Perhaps she finds it hard to eat healthy with that stuff around. Could you compromise and put it away in a cupboard she doesn't use.

This is your opinion. And many health experts disagree.

Good for OP's wife for taking initiative to improve her and her family's health.

Health experts is another way of saying people without medical degrees or scientific knowledge. No thanks.

Better than some random crazy who probably weights 300 pounds posting anonymously on DCUM. I'll pass on your "wisdom", thanks.

Ha ha. My sisters kids are diagnosed coeliacs/ celiacs. There is a blood test you can take to find out if you have a sensitivity.

If you aren't sensitive its better to not eat gluten free bread. If you knew all the foods that gluten is in its laughable to think eating gluten free bread is gluten free.

Besides the fibre is good for in whole wheat bread. But you do you.

It occurred to me that people who yap about gluten being bad are ignoring many thousands of years during which much of human civilization developed with the advent of agricultural grains including wheat--kind of a staple, right? If it was that bad, why are we still here eating it? Same could be said for dairy.

I know all the foods that gluten is in. Fiber is in plenty of foods, namely fruits and vegetables, not just bread.

I will continue to trust the experts I follow. You sound totally clueless about nutrition anyway so please keep the condescension to yourself.

And . . . this just shows how idiotic people get. No, fruits and vegetables do NOT have gluten, unless you buy them processed in forms that contain added gluten. I thought it was hilarious (not) when Quaker Oats repackaged its 1 lb container of oatmeal with a blazing "gluten free" and tripled the price. (Duh. It's oats.) Or when I see CABBAGE labeled gluten free.

NP but you pretty obviously misread what you bolded here.

OP, pizza twice a week is plenty. It shouldn't drive you crazy to eat food made from scratch for most of your meals. The cleaner thing, I don't know. Maybe they don't work? You can make an argument that you don't think they're effective but again, small potatoes.

All Clad is fine, but watch out for splinters or shards from the glass containers. I bought some and they came with glass slivers everywhere. I could never sort out how to store them without them grinding against each other so we're back to plastic on that front.

Man here. Had a similar situation. DW wants to avoid "chemicals" in everything, so she's spending on cleaning products that are 3x the price. I don't mind that (at least they smell like lemon or strawberries), but now we're on to silicon sandwich bags, special types of trash bags, etc.

You know her best. For my DW, this latest fad will get old after 6 months. Before we had the "no nitrates in food" then the "no sugar" then the "no acid in food" kicks.

As for food you want, just buy it yourself.

That’s sexist. Men have feelings and can vent and cry if they want.

This entire thread is full of sexist nonsense. Imagine if a woman said her husband doesn’t want her to eat certain things. The answer here would be that he’s a controlling pig.

OP here. I still eat gluten when we go out. My wife has PCOS, acid reflux, and rosacea. She read that eliminating these foods can help. I don’t think it’s a phase. She has been wanting to help alleviate or get rid of these symptoms for years. We eat healthy most of the time. I just don’t like that I can’t bring things into my home.

Dude if you can't bring things in then it ain't your home.

Then i think its abusive for her not to "let" you eat food you want.

If she has health reasons for changing her eating that's fine. If she does all the shopping and cooking it's going to affect you too. But if you shop or cook, you can purchase or make something for yourself that doesn't conform to her rules. Not to secretly feed it to her, but for you and the kids, that shouldn't be a problem.

My guess is she does all the shopping, all the meal planning, all the cooking, and she's prioritizing something other than your tastebuds for the first time, so it feels like oppression. Based on the fact that you get takeout twice a week that doesn't fall into her eating guidelines, it's a solid bet that no one is barring the door from you coming home with a grocery bag. She's just not buying the things that are causing her health problems and you're making it about you.

Anonymous wrote:OP here. I did not expect this to turn into a fight about gluten. My wife has decided not to eat it because of conditions she has. She does not have celeriac but she has other issues that she think it’s might help. Same with the processed food. We do eat healthy not we have always had some of that stuff in the house. Now she won’t buy it. Our kids also eat very healthy and do not drink juice or eat any junk food.

If you want the junk than you have to buy it. You can't force her to buy your junk food.

There's a big difference between "going on a health kick" and "getting suckered by the 'wellness' industry".

It's masculine to eat Twinkies and Oreos and Twizzlers? Like an obese child?

Lol. What has happened to this generation of men! OMG!!!
