Dementia and the crazies

My dad called my mom a MFer and said she was hitting him and abusing him (we were trying to help him as his legs were "frozen"). Then he accused my brother of trying to steal his money. He was screaming loudly to call the cops etc.

I had heard my dad swear maybe half a dozen times growing up. For him to call my dad a MFer was completely opposite of who he was. He died a week later and I felt bad because my mom was really bothered by that remark.

My gandmother would go put on a dress, put on lipstick, grab her purse, walk to the front door, and announce "I'm going home now". We would sometimes let her head out and walk for a while just to see if she would stop and get confused, or turn around. She never stopped -- she would just keep walking with determination to "go home'.
