Preschool and Daycare Discussion
And have them post here! |
I have already considered that, but one thing I dont understand. People who ask for references and when I give them 3-5 different references to call, they never do!! Why? |
Honestly I have no idea! I have only had one family out of the five I have enrolled call references. And I give out a list of 6 or more names when I interview. |
| OP why did you sign on if you didn't like her rules? To the rest of you...you are being ridiculous! If a provider doesn't open until 7 don't show up until 7. How is it any different than a grocery store? Just because you show up before the store opens doesn't mean they open the door for you. I think it is really rude to even show up early. It's almost as though you are saying her time isn't valuable. |
| I have to agree with the last post, I mean Whole Foods isn't going to open one minute early for you and sell you your yummy organic food and homeopathics just because you are sitting there in your car. How is it any different? |
|
It is parents like you guys make providers tough.
If you are wondering why they are on the internet don't deserved a break too when it is quiet time. What is wrong with these parents out ther, providers spend 10 hours with your child in the day. Have any of these parents ever thank their providers - no that is why providers are what they are come on - |
| It's really not that complicated. If the provider is open at 7:00am, then don't show up until 7:00am. Keep in mind that daycare providers are using their home as a place of business and we like knowing that the time outside of our operating hours are for us. When I feel like parents think that my time is not valuable, then I feel very bitter about it. I imagine that this provider may feel the same way. I know that it may seem petty to parents that a provider would gripe over one minute, but where do we draw the line? Sure, it starts off as a minute early, then before you know it it turns into 10 minutes early and 20 minutes late, because you work from your home, so where else do you have to be? It's best to just stick to the contracted rules and if you are unsure of them, just ask. |
|
Have you think about insurance that it only covers the hours of operation hence that the time the child is there. What if something happen to your child before the hours of operations do you think that her insurance will cover your child.
Do you think if is ok providers work at home and therefore can open their door when you want them too. Hell no I will only open my door for the hours I operate |
| My insurance policy for my business only covers my hours of operation. It's icy outside, and even though I shovel and salt my walk way, accidents can happen. If it happens before I am open for business, then I would be screwed. It's the same reason that I don't ever allow daycare kids in areas of my house that are not licensed by the state and covered by the daycare insurance policy. |
| They protest too much I think. If a parent were a half hour early, that would be an issue. But two minutes? Come on. |
You really think if the insurance company finds out it was 6:55 they would still pay if she opens at 7:00. Nope they sure wouldn't. |
You remember that when YOUR prrovider opens 2 minutes late. Would it be a big deal then? |
The prehaps you should rspect your Providers guidelines and not show up at her door beofre she opens. You wouldn't show up at the store and expect them to open early would you... IF you would expect it, I think you need to get off your high horse. A Provider is running a business and like EVERY other business you can not expect them to open early, simply because you decide your going to show up early. I wouldn't have opened my door either, and if by some chance I did open the door, you would have gotten a warning about showing up before opening and if it happened again , you would have been charged an early drop off fee. SHE (your provider) dodn't leave a baby out in the cold, YOU as your babies mother did, by not resoecting your childcare Providers opening time. How can YOU as a Parent justify that! |
|
Oh, hell, here we go again. The providers are off and running. We don't need six million of you to all say the same thing over and over. Start a support group and meet in private if you want to parrot each other.
We all have it by now...read the contract. Right. I totally agree. But..in case you hadn't noticed, OP said the stupid provider NEVER RETURNED the contract to her. How is she supposed to follow a contract she has not been given. Granted, she should demand a copy, but in the meantime, is she supposed to be psychic? And she said one minute early. Sorry, one minute is one minute and the provider is an asshat. |
| Oh hell here we go again, the parents who use providers are off and running and "asshat" lady is back . . . |
