Give your kids headphones!

Totally agree, OP. It's obnoxious behavior. I see it on planes too.

Doesn't bother me. Just don't want to hear it.

Tell the server it bothers you.
Ask to see a manager.

Force the restaurant to choose whose business they want more.

Then teach your kid how to sit at the dinner table without a damn tv. This was true before Covid. Be a parent.

Maybe I want my kid on the iPad. We spend every day all day together and sometimes its a nice break. My kid doesn't watch tv.

Np. Then do that at home. Not at a restaurant where you are disturbing others.

You have no right to comment about what others do if you are so rude to go out to eat right now. I really don't care what someone else things. Yes, mine wear headphones but its not the point. We aren't disturbing anyone. We get carry out as its the right thing to do during COVID. And, you set a good example for your kids. Eating out is setting poor example and teaching your kids about how to be selfish.

Lol, we’re not eating out. The iPad-at-table thing has nothing to do with the pandemic... it was a problem long before, and will be a problem long after.

Stop coming in to threads to self-importantly type "global pandemic". It makes you sound really, really silly. "Pandemic" is by definition global.

YES!

No!!!!!!

We had a nice meal outdoors last night. We have been stuck in our small condo for MONTHS, and it did wonders for our mental health. The staff wore masks, we stayed sufficiently distant from others.

Besides, kids blaring their devices was a problem LONG before the pandemic. How are your kids supposed to learn manners if you have none?

Sorry you have a small condo. Stay home.

You aren’t very bright, are you?

Since when is playing one's music/movie/whatever else in public considered good manners?

Good manners is not taking stupid risks for no reasons during a pandemic.

Just stop. It’s perfectly safe to sit six feet apart from someone outdoors and eat a meal. You do you, and let the rest of us do what the experts are telling us is safe.

It's actually not, thanks to ventilation systems.

Your reading comprehension is lacking. I specifically said outdoors.

Its still not that safe. But, keep telling yourself that but stop complaining about schools being closed.

Well the health experts disagree so I’ll believe them instead of random whackos on DCUM.

I don’t GAF how you rot your own kid’s brain and stunt their social development. As long as you do it with the sound off.

But they'll have trust funds, so who cares, right?

Seriously. I generally hate parents who let their kids use devices at meal times, but right now you're just as bad as they are.

Anonymous wrote:Seriously, they cost like $5. I don't want to hear the noise coming out of your kid's TV/tablet screen. Maybe I've had a week with bad luck, but twice this week we have been seated at restaurants near a family where at least one kid is playing something full volume on a device. A public place is not your living room and even with the social distancing of tables the sound travels. So give your kids some headphones and let the rest of us dine in some peace, please! Better yet, maybe make your kid put down the screen for an hour so the family can engage with one another.

Keep your kids home!

Seriously, it's not hard to cook for your family. I don't want to have kids to keep having to do distance learning because you and your spouse can't be bothered to feed your family. Maybe I've had a week with bad luck, but multiple times this week I've been shocked to hear about families where at least one kid is totally ignoring any kinds of social distancing or masking requirements. A society is not your personal play space and even with all the freedoms we have and the ability to do some many things safely the idiocy continues. So keep your kids home and let our country begin to get out of this mess, please! Better yet, maybe involve your kids in learning how to cook for an hour so the family can engage with one another.

Not just as bad. The parents with kids on devices are eating out too AND being rude.

Sound off or headphones. No one wants to hear it.
