+1 My stubborn, opinionated 7 year old was miserable from 1-2 because he knew exactly what he wanted but didn’t have the words to tell us. He’s never been an easy kid, but things got a lot better once he could talk to us. At 7 he’s happy and outgoing. And mostly a joy. But still stubborn. And still difficult when he doesn’t get his way. |
Child therapist here. This is bad advice based on DS’s age. Would be more appropriate for a 4 yr old. OP, our DC is similar, although the whining is frequent but not constant and it has gotten slowly through improved sleep and managing allergies better. Don’t rule out some medical factors at this point. Our DC still is a challenge to manage so there is temperament. With improved language skills, DC is able to express feelings which has also helped. |
