I’ve never discussed any of the topics you mention with my OB

This person also posted in a FB group I’m in, so she looks real, though I can’t speak for motivations.

Is it a group for pregnant people? Why is OP asking here about childcare by choice OBs?

Nope, a group of mostly young people newish to DC. Also didn’t indicate why she needed such an OB.

Do you want to have permanent sterilization? Don’t have kids? Don’t ever want them?

I think a lot of places around the country are against this especially if you are under 30. Most OBGYNs in DC are up to date with ACOG’s stance of as long as you are 21 and understand the risks and benefits and know the alternatives a patient can have it done.

Just a shot in the dark...I could not surmise exactly what you needed.

I knew i always wanted to adopt my child and was not interested in pregnancy. I asked every OB/Gyn I had from my early 20s to mid 30s to please sterilize me. None would do it. Here I was, a 23 year old adult woman in law school, and felt completely disrespected. I finally found a doc when i was 35 who would do it. No, I did not change my mind -- ever came close - as they all said I would. I adopted my daughter when I was 37.

I was dating a guy in my 30s and he had a similar story. He knew he never wanted kids but could not find a doc to perform a vasectomy on him til he was 30.
