+1 this is DC, not the Bible Belt. I've never come across a judgy OBGYN around here.

Agree with this. They only care about whether you’re getting appropriate preventative care (paps, prenatal, etc) and if you’re in an abusive relationship. If yes to the first and no to the second, they don’t care about your sexual or reproductive choices.

I’ve familiarized myself with the philosophy of midwifery before and they are not for me — too old-school, “holistic”, rigid, and almost with an agenda. I am looking for someone who empowers women not by telling them what to do but by asking them what they would like to do and helping them go for it. Someone who’s non-judgmental in regards to abortion, LGBTQ issues, permanent birth control & child-free by choice, etc.

You sound pretty judgmental yourself, and quite uptight.

I had one tell me she wouldn't give me an IUD because they cause infertility and said she only gave them to women who had had multiple kids and were late 30's and up. Also mentioned I should think about having a baby "sooner rather than later" and questioned the need for long-term birth control for someone my age. I was 23.

Are you insecure about these things or something? Literally no doctor I know cares about these things either way.

The woman who inserted my IUD was horribly mean. Told me I was going to have major problems, should get a different kind of IUD, she was terrible.

Everyone else I’ve seen in that practice has been lovely so I just avoid her.

The thing is somethings really aren't what you would like to do and helping you go for it when it comes to medicine.

There's professional standards.

There's their own scope of practice.

I've never had a midwife tell me what to do. I've had a lot of condescending and rude AF OBs though.

I think you're dancing around something and it would be easier to just say it. Beyond that doctors are doctors and have much less interest in your choices than you suppose.

You are looking for an child-free-by-choice friendly OB in the expectant and postpartum moms board for what reason?

OP is starting to sound like someone that wants to target a progressive practice. If you’re for real, please say what’s your true concern.

I’ve never discussed any of the topics you mention with my OB

This person also posted in a FB group I’m in, so she looks real, though I can’t speak for motivations.

I don’t understand what the OP is asking for because I think almost any area OB would be fine with all of this.

Is it a group for pregnant people? Why is OP asking here about childcare by choice OBs?

Planned Parenthood!!

If you’re having a baby, then I’d suggest the downtown Reiter & Hill - I’ve seen two-mom families there.

Also suggest you post this on the Special Concerns or LGBT forum. There are so many two mom/two dad families in the DMV that I’m sure they know the OBs that are most progressive.
