Why are people not wearing masks?

And enjoy your mental illness. Who wishes something on people who are doing what’s best for them. If the family did not come within 6 feet of OP, he/she should continue to keep their family safe. Going without a mask while away from people in wide open nature should not pose a risk, unless you are insinuating that COVID is just lying dormant in every bit of airspace, which it is not. Yes, we are in a pandemic but common sense goes so far.

I have a genuine question for the outdoor mask enthusiasts. Do you *actually* think that you’re going to get covid walking past someone on the sidewalk? Or more than 6 feet away in a park? Or from a runner? Or is this some kind of suffering olympics where you just think people who are willing to walk/run/bike in 90 degree heat with a mask on are just better people?

If you socially distance yourself, why are you concerned about what they are doing a distance from you? There could be a health reason why they only wear masks when necessary. It doesn’t sound like it was necessary in the situation you described.

They entered the Visitors Center without masks. We just happened to be at the far side where we could be away from people but near the visitors center with a view of the gazebo on the hill. It is not about "being upset because of not getting a good spot." It is seeing how inconsiderate they were.

I love how the story keeps changing to fit OP's agenda.

OP, wearing masks outside at Meadowlark Gardens is not an issue. In the visitors center, it is. They should not have allowed them in -- violation of county park policy,

The state literally has a Don't Tread on Me license plate because it's got loads of conservatives who cannot be told what to do as it violates their god given constitutional right to not wear a mask.

Virginia sucks

I think that's good advice because seeing people relax stresses op out.

How dare you?

Lol

Apparently there are people who think this.

We have a word for them. Hypochondriacs.

This is my question too.

I don't wear one so people like you stay away. Not sure how else to explain it.

And "martyrs.". They truly think wearing a mask is the highlight of their life. Finally, after decades of being nothing and doing nothing, they have purpose.

I haven't gotten it, including six flights without a mask (got on and pretended to sleep) and eating out with friends once a week. The risk is overblown. Please see a therapist to deal with your hypochondria.

Wow! Talk about selfish!

I ask the same question about people tailgating the car in front of them. My answer usually is they are either idiots, oblivious idiots, or entitled aholes. Probably the same with masks.

I wear mask in public to signal to other people and my kids that I am not an oblivious idiot, that I respect the fact that we are in a middle of pandemic which literally means "prevalent everywhere", and that I am civil member of a society. Mask burden is not high. I also do not pick my nose nor do I produce noxious farts in public for the above mentioned reasons.
