This coming/rising 5th key cohort is already down to 30 from around 78 at the grade cohort Height, and at least 5-10 not going to hardy - but this grade could be an anomaly. The leaving 5th grade class this year going to hardy is much larger.

I have access to the actual numbers...the rising 5th grade class is closer to 40 (more like 42), compared to the number of 45 when they were in fourth grade. That's a loss of only 3 kids.

In 3rd grade the class was 78. I know of 10 kids leaving at least for this coming year.

We are a Murch family and we are not going to Deal. I don't think you could possibly know how many families are going elsewhere.

Umm, okay. Maybe yours is one of the families I know about? Probably not, though, because they aren't rude. As I stated, I know of three kids from this year's graduating class who are not going to Deal. Certainly, there are quite possibly more. But we know the majority of 5th graders, so have a pretty good sense of where people are going.

FWIW, this is a sea change from even 8-10 years ago, when many more Murch kids went on to privates, charters or MoCo/VA publics after fifth grade. This is from a neighbor who used to be head of the HSA at Murch.

Sea change is overstating it; more than the current 0-3, but even back than it was only a handful.

So you are saying between 3rd and 5th grade, 36 kids have left?

Rude for stating that you can't possibly know that only 3 are moving on. Mmmmmkkkaaayyyy

I would love to know who you are if you know the majority of 5th graders. We are leaving in part because of parents like you.

You are not sending your kid to deal because of posters like PP?

I'm not sending my kid to Deal because DCPS has been horrible when it came to implementing his IEP. They flat out didn't do it for half a year.

Secondly, I am tired of these clicky moms who think they know everything and everyone. The whole environment they create sucks.

I'm the PP who called you rude, which I should not have done -- I apologize. I'm also sorry that you and your child had such a bad experience at Murch, and I hope you find a better environment for your family wherever you are going.

My primary point has gotten a bit lost in the weeds. We do in fact know many (but not all) of the 5th grade families. Of those families, I have only heard of three that are not seeing their kid to Deal. As I stated, there may certainly be more than that. But, in attempting to answer OPs question, my point was simply that only a very small number of kids who graduate from Murch do not go on to Deal.
