It’s going to happen again, isn’t it?

+1, we may go back to phase 2 but we will not be shutting down completely again.

Whether it’s official or not, that’s what I’m doing For my family. Trust me the hell that is knowing you were exposed and feeling “sick” and waiting for results while watching life pass you by is something you won’t forget.

Also it’s not as if there’s anywhere to go and long distance travel will be much slower than it is now in the summer.

Dramatic, much?

I still have hope that we can use what we hace learned in the last six months to make smarter policy. In Democratic areas, anyway (and I am including MD despite Hogan because he has a brain).

With widespread infection, a playground can't be safe. I'm sorry.

Outdoors is not magic

It’s a lot safer than the indoors. Have you been paying attention?

NP. Safer than guaranteed infection isn't good enough when dealing with exponential spread. Safer isn't safe enough.

Seriously, pay attention to exponents. Math over magic PP.

I think the big wild card is how long our employers are willing to give us the incredibly helpful amount of telework and schedule flexibility they have so far. I am not sure they anticipated this dragging on past the summer. If there is another shutdown but our employers say "that's enough guys, back to work," it's a whole new problem.

Maybe, but honesty they can’t replace the entire work force, and when every one gets back and half the staff fall ill, what are they going to do? Same with landlords kicking out businesses — who do you think is going to rent that empty spot???

November.

Not ready for the first one and not ready for any others. This is not normal, but a family member was asymptomatic and tested positive. It can happen to anyone.

+1. It will be right before the election. Then, magically, by mid November, everything will start to look better.

Ah yes, the whole rest of the world is in cahoots with US Dems.

I know, its hilarious.

My spouse was in an RV for two months (ICU worker). I am dreading if that happens again.

How did you drain the waste from the RV? Or did they have access to separate bathroom?

Even if we went back to Phase 2 the compliance by the public and businesses just won’t bw there and there is no way it can be enforced.

We know more today than we did in March. We know people get really sick but they don’t drop dead like early news stories seemed to imply.
Once the media televised the protests it was all over with lockdowns and phases. There were no case spikes and people see that.

Yeah, it’s going to happen again. Sucks!!

None of us have a crystal ball, but I am mentally preparing for it to be March all over again. I would not be in the least surprised if we are not back in full lockdown before the end of August.
Anonymous
Yes, we prepared. We actually wrote down the various scenarios in February and updated them just recently, working on them with friends who work in various sectors. Obviously, we hoped for the best scenarios but prepared for the more pessimistic ones, too. It’s a relief to actually have plans in place before things develop.

I would say perhaps around Halloween. Hospitalizations and deaths lag well behind positive case numbers.

What this means is that schools will not open for hybrid learning until 2021, because we'll have increasing numbers of cases and hospitalizations from now on.

We're going to have another round of stay-in-place orders, then schools will open for hybrid learning in 2021, a vaccine will start being distributed in early 2021 for first responders, and then DCUM and the world will explode in controversy as to who should get vaccinated first, why we have distribution problems, people who absolutely do not want to get vaccinated, people who want to be vaccinated but can't because they don't have access to the vaccine... and it's going to last all throughout 2021.

Be prepared for a social media troll campaign against vaccination: previous vaccine failures will be dredged up even though they have nothing to do with the current situation, and the anti-maskers will morph into anti-vaxxers.
