DD's HS just cancelled the August SAT exam

I am thinking about it. DS could submit PSAT scores if he had to. He's not bound for a top 20 school, and I'm sick of the whoe thing. ACTs have been cancelled twice. SATs canceled at least once, and the schedule test in August unlikely to happen. He had to take an AP exam twice due to problems submitting answers.

I have been positive about this situation, but these kids have lost their normal lives and probably their entire senior years. I'm ready to say to hell with the tests.

I'm about done too. My DS's ACT has been cancelled twice, SAT twice. I don't even know what the story is with refunds, right now I'm figuring eh, more money lost.

DS also had to take his AP exam twice as well due to the submission problems.

Not top 20/50/whatever school bound either, and right now just having a "normal" college experience in Fall 2021 is all I'm hoping for for my kid.

Don’t understand – if you’re not aiming for a top school and they’re not required-why bother at all?

A lot of 2020 seniors are deferring, which means our kids will have even fewer spots available to them. The more our kids can bolster their applications, the better a shot they'll have at the decreased spots that will be available to them.

My DC's determined to go pre-med, but I'm still talking up CC for the first 2 years and then transfer to a 4 year and saying that we can deal with the fall out of which med schools don't want CC science classes. It's not the "normal" college experience, but these kids aren't getting anything normal.

You need to look at the requirements of all of your in-state medical schools, and build the entire four year plan accordingly.

DC has. Which is why DC is freaking out. I'm taking a different approach - just because med schools are snooty about CC intro level science classes now doesn't mean they'll still be like that in 4 years. And if they are, then that's what post grad years are for. We can't change what we're dealing with now, which is a kid who hasn't had an opportunity to take the SAT and might not get one, and is likely to be competing for many fewer than typical college freshman spots due to 2020 HS seniors deferring. My kid needs to know there's a path, even if it's not the one he'd been planning for.

At the same time, DC needs to be planning on being able to take the SAT in case it happens. It's a challenging situation for a 17 year old, and I think as parents it's important for us to support our kids in the possible paths they might need to be taking.

Merit Aid? How could you not know this?

You make no sense. There are tons of four year schools your DS can get into without the scores. Lack of scores is not reason to do C C.

DP. Not all schools are test optional, and the scores can help with merit aid.

Why don’t you just answer her question without having to be snotty about it, jeez.

So if you live in the DC area and you want your kid to take the SAT in August or September, what testing sites (within reasonable driving distance) do you think are most likely to be open?
