is anyone just giving up on submitting a test score for the class of 2021?

South County HS.

Can you just schedule an upcoming exam in a more rural area (i.e. rural Virginia, Gettysburg, etc.) and book a hotel? Are the rural places still giving exams?

I did consider that as a possibility. All of her schools are SAT optional this year. Just wondering how hard to try to make this work.

FYI - I tried the hotel/rural location approach for the July ACT and it was cancelled too.

I am thinking about it. DS could submit PSAT scores if he had to. He's not bound for a top 20 school, and I'm sick of the whoe thing. ACTs have been cancelled twice. SATs canceled at least once, and the schedule test in August unlikely to happen. He had to take an AP exam twice due to problems submitting answers.

I have been positive about this situation, but these kids have lost their normal lives and probably their entire senior years. I'm ready to say to hell with the tests.

I'm thinking the same... it's frustrating to have them prepare and then it's just canceled. Maybe not even bother sending anything.

This is our plan B.

So did I.

Did you receive an email? Is there a list of closed sites? My DC is scheduled at a school outside of NOVA for the August SAT, so fingers crossed it still goes, but would love to know where to keep an eye out.

I'm about done too. My DS's ACT has been cancelled twice, SAT twice. I don't even know what the story is with refunds, right now I'm figuring eh, more money lost.

DS also had to take his AP exam twice as well due to the submission problems.

Not top 20/50/whatever school bound either, and right now just having a "normal" college experience in Fall 2021 is all I'm hoping for for my kid.

Same. We might have paid 4 times for all I know. It is aggravating on that front alone.

I wish the colleges would make a uniform decision on this soon.

I got an email from SCHS. Interestingly enough, when I had DD go online to try to move her testing location, they still showed that the school was hosting the exam.

I was able to get her moved to the October and November test dates, but who knows if those will be cancelled as well? Our message to her is that she should try to sit for it once if possible, but not stress out about it given all the other COVID stressors. If her score is great, we will send it. If not, no.
