I think we still have to play the game and try to get our kids an opportunity to test and hope it comes out ok. A lot of 2020 seniors are deferring, which means our kids will have even fewer spots available to them. The more our kids can bolster their applications, the better a shot they'll have at the decreased spots that will be available to them. My DC's determined to go pre-med, but I'm still talking up CC for the first 2 years and then transfer to a 4 year and saying that we can deal with the fall out of which med schools don't want CC science classes. It's not the "normal" college experience, but these kids aren't getting anything normal.
You need to look at the requirements of all of your in-state medical schools, and build the entire four year plan accordingly.
DC has. Which is why DC is freaking out. I'm taking a different approach - just because med schools are snooty about CC intro level science classes now doesn't mean they'll still be like that in 4 years. And if they are, then that's what post grad years are for. We can't change what we're dealing with now, which is a kid who hasn't had an opportunity to take the SAT and might not get one, and is likely to be competing for many fewer than typical college freshman spots due to 2020 HS seniors deferring. My kid needs to know there's a path, even if it's not the one he'd been planning for. At the same time, DC needs to be planning on being able to take the SAT in case it happens. It's a challenging situation for a 17 year old, and I think as parents it's important for us to support our kids in the possible paths they might need to be taking.
You make no sense. There are tons of four year schools your DS can get into without the scores. Lack of scores is not reason to do C C.
