Perhaps I want to talk about extra drills to work on the left foot while at home. Perhaps I want to talk about a money issue, perhaps I want to talk about a guest play opportunity, perhaps I want to talk about off season training, futsal, Super Y. Perhaps there are MANY reasons I would want to talk the coach and none of them are the team managers business. |
If it's about the playing time, your kid should speak directly to the coach unless it is U9 or younger. Don't be a helicopter parent. |
Or, if you are not comfortable talking to parents then perhaps you should coach older age groups.Kids come with parents and soccer is just a game. |
As someone mentioned before, send the coach an email. Most clubs have the coaches email addresses listed on the club site. Does your club use Teamsnap? Most clubs have the coach's email loaded into Teamsnap. Again, you can send an email if you don't have time/privacy/cojones to speak to the coach in person. |
The coach hides behind a team manager, doesn't provide a phone number and you say the parents don't have the cojones to talk in person? |
I don't know about your club, but our coaches aren't paid nearly enough to be expected to be on call to deal with complaints 24/7 |
Maybe I am missing something? Why do you need to go through the team manager to email the coach and request some of his time? Get his email off the website. Your daughter doesn't have Teamsnap on her phone? Go into her app, get the coach's email and send him a message. Neither of those options involve the manager. |
+1 Our club has every coach's email listed on the site, and it's also listed in the team's TS account for anyone to access without having to contact the manager. |
It is more the coaches attitude that they do not provide the phone number. THe team manager certainly has it and that is the "hiding behind" the team manager aspect. The messaging portion in team snap sucks for 1 to 1 so I'd prefere a phone number to be able to text. Same damn thing. Just a stupid hurdle because you coach 10 year olds. |
Then just send him a damn email! You do not need his personal phone number. Check your entitlement! |
Don't use the TS messaging. Just get his email from TS and email him/her directly. If you really want or need to have a conversation then just accept the extra hurdle of having to email first to request time. |
It is a stupid hurdle. You coach 9 year olds. |
I don't coach anyone, but if I did I certainly would not want you to have my number. It's certainly not difficult to send the coach an email an request a time to talk in person or over the phone. I'm not sure why that is so difficult for you. |
|
Stupid hurdle or not, if you have to send an email first to start a conversation then do it. Maybe over the course of that you'll be able to get the coach's number that you so desperately need and then you won't have to jump over that hurdle next time. |
